iam or have been using core lite ftp for uploading to my web page ...but today when i try to upload the transfer rate drops to zero and fails ive also tried smrt ftp ..it does the same thing....any clues?
btw iam so frustrated with this i could type something else but it would be tango'd
So you can connect OK. Right?
Have you exceeded your storage limit?
Can you upload a tiny text file?
Can you delete that tiny text file (assuming it uploaded)?
Can you create a new folder (looking for permission type issues here)?

sent to you bud :D
got Eclipse on the case too.....
could it be a router set up issue at all???????
its been fine till hippy got his mits on it.... :P
Here's the issue.
Passive and active FTP.
I can connect, upload/downlad etc just fine using Smart FTP. Smart automatically changes to PASV as neccessary.
When I use the command line it connects ok, but drops when you issue a command.
FTP 101 - FTP uses 2 ports (channels) one control and one data. In this case active would require specific reverse firewall rules to allow the data connection back. So the cntrl channel establishes the connection, then data channel is used to pass the data.
So you can send your command, then it tries to pass over the data channel and the server resets and the port isn't allowed.
The solution is to use pasv FTP which should be an option on the software you are using, SMART FTP is free if you can't find it.
I set up a new account - emailed you details - and it works fine. Ask eclipse if they have changed their firewal policy recently and tell them that they really should drop connections not reject them. They should also probably make it clear in the banner which FTP to use.
Let me know if you get any joy. - Use Passive, it'll be easier than messing with the ISP.
tried it benny no joy ive sent u an email...it must be my router or somethin its just wierd :(

hmmmm just tried it with a modem and it works fine ... must be my router but why? :ranting:
I had to change 'MTU size' in 'WAN setup' to get steam to work again.
Maybe yours changed when i used it? :(
