Well i did it , yes i got battle field 2 as most of you on last night might have guessed.
I am not very good at it yet and i have had some team kills and got a new name too lol "PLONKER" but it was great fun i really enjoyed it a lot :D
I will try to play c/z as well i hope
yes, I recall one striking incident where I was running up to help capture a flag, when I mown down by a teammate (cough) in an apc, who promptly jumped out and revived me with the defibrilator, ...only for me to then be sniped within about a second of breathing again  whole new level of frustration this game! excellent stuff though.

Connected.
Died several times whilst confirming that nobody answered either typed messages or voice comms.
Tried to join a different server. The PC locked up. Again. :ranting:
Went and played WoW instead
TL.
I've tried to get into BF2 but I've not really been enjoying it.
/RANT ON
It was OK for a while last night with a goot SL (Rizzy I think with help from Armitage) but on the next map I offered to help as a gunner on a chopper with DA. I hadn't done it before so wasn't too sure exactly what I was doing, anyway after the first respawn after getting shot DA had obviously had enough after teling me to shoot the gun (not in those words) and flew off without me
Thanks for the help DA it was appreciated :ranting:
I may try again later but could the guys that play it a lot please remember that some of us are still finding our feet (or wings)!!
/RANT OFF
id let you on board my ship.. plane whatever .. i dont care if you dont kill them or i dont kill them, ill crash into them ...
Just hook up with me whitey, I cant fly & you cant shoot, so we should make a fine team.
I must say some of it was hard work last night. myself, Whitey and rizz formed a squad, which I thought went really well under the eye of commander s_monkey. we stayed together as much as possible and defended a base really well. killing frenzy on more than one occasion 8) . so for the next round, OB said sort out your squads, but people just did there own thing jumped in helicopters, tanks and all joined one large squad. I was going to call it a night but jas formed a squad and did a bit of artillery defending and flag taking.. after that map I could not take the work trying to get people organised so called it a night.
I would expect this on a public night, but a dmw pw'ed evening we should all be able to do better.
EXTRA RANT
when a commander gives an order. "little icon on map" don't run off and do your own thing.
if you are chopper pilot make a squad, call it "chopper". then your gunner can find the right squad to join. and I would also suggest being engineer and support between the two of you, so you can re-arm and repair with out an airfield
Well I for one think that we should be getting used to actually playing the game first ... <_<
all this ranting about people under achieving/performing on what is basically a one week old game is not gonna get people to even want to work together or jump in vehicles with the guys who get a lot more time to actually play the game ....
I was in a small squad with OB and Frenzy last night ...they had plenty of patience for little ol' me (...who has probably only started the game up 3/4 times since buying it)!! as I was askin' which buttons did what as we were playing!!...... 8)
surely people can remember finding their feet with CS ..... we need more patience otherwise dmw's interest in BF2 will wither and die and we would ALL have wasted our hard earned money between us
my 2p worth ........ ;)

Well said. Not rocket science is it? <_<
C'mon people. BF2 is, IMHO, *the* best teamplay FPS ever. Dead Men doing the solo malarkey is not on.

that probably goes for other vehicle squads too? though perhaps just a pair of engineers for tank crews?
special forces could do solo missions to take out the radar/artillery. Commander can either piggyback in a vehicle (ie don't drive it yourself so you can still send commands) or camp out a flag to defend so you have time between attacks to send commands. I'd suggest being assault for this as you get lots of armour - drop a crate on camped out defenders so they can repair and rearm (defenders should call out when they've camped on a nice rooftop or something so the crate isn't out in the open!)
it's very nice to have at least two teams on the ground so you can attack and defend different points at the same time. Can also be handy on small servers like ours to have a solo artist who is rushing to far-flung undefended flags to cause chaos generally! Please do take turns at commander/seargent roles as it can be a bit taxing to have to do it every map! I know I got fed up at one point and resigned
...how do you give your squad a name? and is there a way for seargents to issue commands to single soldiers (ie send one guy on a solo mission while the rest defend/attack a base?)
I'm not saying we have to be crack shots, crack pilots or have great tactics. I'm not even saying what class or vehicle you have to drive, just stick together and do what the commander asks. I must admit I did pop over to your side at one stage last night. and oldie had done a fine job in organising lots of small squads. I did try but it didn't work. we need two oldies :D
OB is right on two counts it is a great £30 worth and it isn't rocket science.

Should be easy enough for us to get the hang of I would hope, lets face it, at the end of the day its not much differant to calling which site/route your taking in cs, bomb carrier/commander/squad ldr calls it, the rest do what were told.

With you all the way MAD.....
I was starting to get into the game then all this complaining started about people not doing this and not doing that..... have to say you have put me off even playing it again.
Smite et all have a point.
Those that come into the game fresh, let them get used to it before we get all serious.
Just think what you were like when you started and give them some slack, all the squad / commander / orders stuff can be a bit much to take in with all the other nuances.
Let's not keep some of the community away from the game by making fun un-attainable.
I agree that everyone should be allowed to get comfortable with the game. Just remember that the basic TCS principles still apply - if you aint sure, ask.
Try to buddy-up with a another dMw player and use comms. It really is worth the effort. Trust me :D

...how do you give your squad a name?
[post=87729]Quoted post[/post]
[/b]When selecting your kit, click on squad and at the bottom you will see a tab for custom squad which you can then call whatever you like :)
well.....
I reckon....
everyone has had a good valid point. :P
I haven't noticed any SERIOUS complaining...
I tried commander the other night with about 4 pubbers each side...
I must say, with only 2 guys on their own who do what they are asked, who answer comms and send info back via the "spotted" message on the command rose (stupid name innit?), it was very rewarding.
I forget the name, but it was a map with a carrier....I sat in the gun turret and did me commander thing...the other guys were very responsive and kept me in the picture, calling for supplies etc and saying thank you after they got them...which was nice :)
most importantly, they were using the "spotted" message to good effect...from what I can tell, if you centre an enemy whilst pressing q, then left click, that object becomes visible to your side for a while...if you press q then right click, you can choose to say exactly what you've spotted, which is handy if it's a moving tank or you're hiding.
I told them to repair artillery and the next time they spawned they were mechs...I said spike their guns, and they spawned as special ops...it wasn't rocket science, just common sense, and really good fun :D
as far as the squads go, Armi has it about right...2 man chopper squad...2 tank...
also...(im on a roll)....weight of attack is really effective...I spawned in a base and came under attack from practically their whole side....boy was it scary...and IMHO the transport heli with a parachute in to the flag can be the key to winning bases...
all should set to spawn on the squad leader or his location if he's in a full vehicle....that way you can keep up the momentum of an attack.
phew!
no complaints tonight tho....a bit of mild swearing from a few pubbers...who did apologise when admonished...gg's
well after downloading the demo today i think i might invest....
sounds like its really fun playing with the dMw community on this game, and because no one plays cs anymore  i need another game to get into
