Lan details
1) its the town of march in cambridgshire
2) its 10/11 of may 2003
3) 1 single room (drumroll please) £25.00 squirell's already got it due to dubious tip off (lol)
4) 11 double's @ £39.00
5) there is 1 family room, 4 beds(1 double 2 singles) may suit the northeners smite jas jb and madness £75.00
6) 1 bridal suite with four poster (double) @ £39.00(oh-er wouldn't like to be the 1 booking that !!!)
7) 7 twin rooms @ £39.00
8) this includes the fatty fatty toad boy breakfast on sunday morning

i suggest you find partners to share with otherwise we will run out of rooms, so talk to people first b4 you book, alternative accomodation can and will be found should the hotel be full (although it may be a 50 mile drive !!! ok 2 mins walk but i can't tell you no prices ur on ur own there ok goddammit i will check if needed pm me if you have a prob)

we will have full use of the room with key provided (i had to sleep with her again to get that ) so no curfew (woo-hoo)

 the room is in pictures below and will be no smoking due to popular demand. the cost for the 2 days is £350.00 which equates to
£10.93 each for the whole LAN based on 32 sharing (its getting like a holiday brochure now and i had to sleep with her again for the price mwu-haha)

1 more thang, the meal for saturday night will take the form of a vote (see above) just to get numbers. once the numbers are in i will make the appropriate bookings (unlike last time "hello is that the chinese, can you do a table for 18 tonite....yes thats right tonite!! Pheew it was a close 1)
think first cos i dont know who wants what  and we are not going to get a table for 32 at a days notice. but if we have to split into 2 teams of 16ish we can rush the poppadoms, left left at the onion baji's then a left right at the sweet an sour donkey scrote's (no offence DCG).

When I was young in Edinburgh I used to buy dodgy, smelly fish of an indistinguishable nature from many of the chinese restuarants. I would then sell them on to the local curry houses.

As I suspect that there will be a fair bit of table moving and setting up of game servers, file servers and switch cabling to be done in the morning, I am considering staying overnight on the Friday so that I can (a) get an early and full breakfast, and (B) be there to help set up first thing.

Is anyone else thinking of being there overnight on Friday?  It's just that I get lonely....  :D

I might just do that matey!  got that friday off from work, could canter down there midday, arrive about 3pm.  I'll check with doggers.

Leafy - setting up of game servers i assume your also including loading of software if so then really these things should be done before the Sat incase of last minute hitches

I can get over there from about 07:30 on the Sat if needed.

That seems to list most of the available places in March. I would suggest the Oliver Cromwell hotel as its is on the high st and therefore can't be too far away.

My recollection of numbers who originally signed up was approx 30. My gut feel from comments after asking if they could come maybe upto 10.

My recollection of the venue size should accomodate 40ppls maybe more [FB would you agree]

My concern is - will we have H/Ware for 40 and will it be there for first thing Sat morning i.e 08:00 ish to give us time to set the servers up and iron out the usual bugs.
The H/ware that is critical - Servers(doh), Switches & crossover cables.

Servers - TL said he was bringing 2 and would be there the night before - is this still the case TL ??
Oldie did also say he could supply server - is this still true & what time would you anticipate turning up ?

Switches - GFK was bringing a 24(i think) & someone else was bringing another(who ?) is this still the case & what time do you anticipate turning up?
Lionheart also said he might be able to bring a 24 switch if its not commandeered for work purposes

Cables - will need some nice long ones - i think we supplied last time but not sure if we can this time - i'll speak with LionHeart otherwise can anyone else help out if need be - or is it best to assume evryone brings their own?

Extension cables & multiplug boards - always usefull - i have one of each but a few more might come in handy

09:00 is great - but if you get there earlier the hotel serves cooked bfast 'til 09:00 otherwise its a trek to Tescos

I would offer switches but they wouldn't do the job like Benny's offering. If there is something lying around at my work closer to the time I could possibly nick it for the weekend.

I should be able to bring along some cables of varying lengths, x-over and stright though.

Muchos power strips will also be needed.

Is there an internet connection we will be able to use? If not then we can forget about bringing a router.

well, I'll have internet access via my gprs phone so could set-up ics. but this will only be for emergencies. no service pack downloads!

whats your line speed with the gprs jas?  I think mine is pritty high, ISDN type speed.  Then again I suprisingly know little of GPRS.

I have a bluetooth usb dongle for my pc and will be bringing that along.

i have a nokia 8310 [i think thats the modle]
aparently my mobile is like connecting throught a 28.8k modem.

my phone is linked to my ipaq via bluetooth. also my pc via bluetooth. it's the equivalent of a fast 56k modem. (connects at around 48k)
