I assume you fellas created an account name using the full '-=[dMw]=- format? Hence your name shows up properly in the game server. AFAIAA you can;t yet change your name (without creating a new account). Is there another way that you know of or is this still the way it is?

I think the name that you choose in the account screen is as far as you can go. You can though create a 'new' account should you wish. You can't change your name other than that
I quote from another frorum:
In the manual on page 5 it says: "you cannot change your account name, password or associated email address on an existing account...you must create a new account" ...
PEN
However Tweakguides says:
Profile.con
This file contains details of your online account including the username (GameSpyNick), the Email attached to that name, and the Password (encrypted). You can't change these details here - doing so will have no impact on your online account, except maybe cause problems logging on or with Punkbuster. If you want to change your online account name, email, or both, the correct way to do so is by going directly to the GameSpyID site, and first login using your current details. Then change the relevant information, enter the correct password and submit it to save the changes. Then when you return to BF2, enter your new details and retrieve your new account details then login to your multiplayer account.

It looks like you can change it at //www.gamespyid.com, but haven't tried it - I have to wait 2½ month more to be allowed to apply to Bravo Company, i.e. use a dmw tag :-)
Just edited my username from my WoW version to -=[dMw]=-TeaLeaf through the GamespyID website. We'll see if that works.............

Once I have served my 'probation' I will be starting again with a fresh account using the -=[dMw]=- format.
The reason: My [BIG]Ranger account has me ranked as a Lance Corporal - so I figure as a new member to dMw it seems right that I start as a private.
But that's just my view.

All I did was to create a new account with my -=[dMw]=-BlueBall name then login to it and logout again and close down BF2.
Now go to C:\Documents and Settings\
\My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\
and open the global.con file in notepad. This will tell you which folder holds your new current profile (0001 in my case).
Now copy all of the files in your OLD (0002 in my case) folder (APART from the profile.con file) and put them in the NEW folder. This takes all your keyboard binds, audio and video settings across. The reason you do not take the profile.con file is that it holds the username details so obviously you do not want to overwrite your newly created username (do you?)
HTH?

This won't allow me to create a new account with dmw tag and still have all my unlocks though. I created a new account name, copied files over and when I log onto new account i don't have my old score or unlocks. I think this is because the email and nickname are both used to verify an account. What it will do is allow you to take your local pc settings. Ah well guess i'll have to start again with no unlocks. <_<

Thats what I had to do. To be honest I'm glad there isnt a quick way around - I have wasted so much time getting ranked points for unlocks.
i was thinking of trying to do all that but it seemd like to much work so now i just use an acount for ranked and one for dMw i just thought ea were stupid for making you use differnt email addresses for each acount. <_<
To get the -=[dMw]=- tag infrontof your nick on the server.
Start BF2 and put -=[dMw]=- in the prefix box when you log onto your acount.

That won't work the prefix box only allows 6 characters dMw is 9.
It also seems that some people can't get the -=[dMw]=- tag to work infront of their name (didn't you had that problem Dewey?).
I'll check a few forums I'm on if the name can be changed.
Just thought I'd check out this section of the forums here now that we moved Silver Oak Guardians here. I play some BF2 occationally, so what is required for me to kick your arses druid style? :P
My account on BF2 is -> vargen666, do I just put in dMw? Or can I play there anyways?
My current scores arent that great though ;)

i mean how do u change player name? like my steam account is one name, my cz name is other one?
You cannot change your name in BF2. The name you registered with is the name you see in the game. If you want to use another name, you must create a new account. (Oh, apart from the technical aproach on the first page, but I dont understand all that.)
BTW arn't you allowed to change you clan/community tag? so long as you used the facility to accomodate tags instead of creating your account with it already in the name. But its pretty recent so I guess those who registered early got caught out. sorry if this was already mentioned
Just to make things clear:
You can't change your account name!
What you can do is add a prefix as in your clan tag or so.
If you want to play with another name, make a new account with the preferd name. It is NOT possible to change your excisting accountname on which you allready have a few badges or what-so-ever.
Changing your name can't be done as in CZ.
Now get back to class guys...
