For those at the LAN who kept trying to join the same server and then all got kicked I have hopefully found the answer.  I knew I had read it somewhere.  From the official forum.

If you are on the same connection with the same outside ip and try to join the same server, both clients will drop out of the server because both clients are using the same game port of 10000.

With one computer make a shortcut of bfbc2game.exe and add -port 10001 to the end

This may make next LAN easier for BC2 players.

There are other admin tools that have the ability to run the server in mixed mode. It can be set up to run one rush then one conquest etc. I have sent ghost the details.  I have no idea if/ when it will come to bcgaurdian.

I will hopefully be bringing a rather special 43 yo to the lan.  This will be VERY limited to tasting a small amount :D hint look up glenfarclas 40 -42 yo.  I may also bring some drinking whisky but as we have a drinking ban in place i think it would be taking the **** to drink a bottle of whisky :woot2: so may just have a taster bottle.  I just hope the local wisky shop has some left.

From the official forum

Our current plan is to allow Steam to test the patch tonight and all being well we will look to release R7 client and R10 servers on Wednesday morning European time. I'll update more on that later once the details are finalised.

We aren't going to tell you what weapon balance tweaks we have done, we want your unbiased views on the changes before we detail what has changed.

Will be interesting to see what this is like.

Hi Benny the in game comms have been erratic which is part of the problem getting information over to members of the public.  When they work they are not bad and I try to use them alot.  Hopefully the next patch will improve things.  The comms on some servers seem to be better than others and I am not sure why.

The only thing that they have said is that is intermittent.  Which we managed all on our own.  They quality when they are working is better than they were at first.  Hopefully when some of the other problems are sorted they will let us choose a voice quality but then I imagine that will cost more for bandwidth.

Yes the beta is to have thousands of free gametesters find the bugs in the programming.. but when you set a launch date and dont make it, they just release it and finish up the rest later..

when the beta was online more then 2 million players played it, so thats a pretty huge tester base..

Yeah the beta for the consoles was more of a demo.  The beta for the pc was to find problems with all the other stuff they added to make the pc side of things they way pc players want it.  Dedicated servers, browsers and such.  I can't remember how many pc beta codes where released but it alot.  Dice have said that that was still less than something like 20% of the people who where playing in the first two weeks.  The pc netcode (yes I am out of my comfort zone here :D ) is much tricker to get due to all the different specs and settings the pc can have.  Add punkbuster to that and let the party begin.  PB was off during most of the beta even when it said it was on in server.  Dice have done this before to see what hackers come up with. :boxing:

Indeed was a good night last night.  I did crash to desktop 5 times but at least the server worked and was full! :yahoo: We can take another look at game mode rotation when ghost is back.

I thought the inactive server was only kicked in after 8 hours.  Of coarse that will n doubt have changed since it was announced.  I will catch up with ghost when he gets back form AWOL. :roflmao: (yeah i know he is away for a week)

I like the waffles!! The UK tags and Team work is an idea that may well work.  I am still not sure how many people are joining servers through the browser.  The big problem seems to be the join now is not filling the server at the moment.  It is certainly worth putting UK and Team play as part if server name.  The .co.uk part of the name should give it away but....

Going on from what blunt has posted in the main section I think we need to look at the settings of the server. From the official forums it looks like having punkbuster on is causing the server not to get picked up by play now. There is a setting that can be used in the cfig that can make PB look off to the server browser but is actually on. This may help. To be honest with PB off at the moment we can still kick people no great problem. It also looks like we need a min of 8 people to get the play now people as well.

We need to get some rules sorted out. I still hear moaning going on about spawn raping here and there. We will need to as admins get this sorted.

We are still waiting on a banner and a message to be sorted out as people join. We can now get a setting with one of the admin tools to put messages at timed intervals. Sadly still in the middle of the screen.

I obviously don't see all the settings and logs that TL and GM see but the server is definitely down a lot more than the logs are showing. It is also restarting every two hours but that maybe that is meant to happen when empty. During the day at work I often try other servers to see what performance and ping is like. I have not been kicked out of another server only ours. This again could be linked to some setting we have.

If we want this game to work it will take some work Granted the EA problems are making it difficult. We also may need to get one admin tool and that may need to be mounted and run on one of the dmw dedi boxes with vnc or another remote desktop control rather than being run on each persons desktop.

I understand that some people can only play certain nights but if people are on we need them on our server. I am afraid there are too many people who are only interested in playing for the points and KD. They are ranking up but not in our logs . We have two months left of this server if it does not get better there is no point and paying for it.
