Tanking / How to Reach the Defence Cap
December 16, 2008, 11:14:11 AM
Also keep in mind that defence is actually a very good stat now, not just something you have to have to be uncrittable. Here is a short article on it if anyone is interested: http://www.tankingtips.com/2008/12/12/how-good-is-defense/

Tanking / How to Reach the Defence Cap
December 16, 2008, 11:11:04 AM
This will be an issue throughout the content that is currently available. Not saying it will be a problem, but you will always have to keep it in mind when you get upgrades. I've had to regem several times allready because of upgrades I've received to stay above the cap.

World of Warcraft - Dead Men Raiding / Ages ago
October 28, 2008, 12:06:58 PM
Hi Teni, been a while :).

I do have a lot of fond memories of our little group going through all the instances in vanilla WoW. We had a lot of fun and I consider this as the best period I had in WoW.

I've been playing as horde on Darkspear server with some real life friends in TBC. Was raid leader and officer for a guild that eventually ended up disbanding after Kalecgos.

I have now re-started on Aszune with my warrior Melech. Just reached 70 and are looking for a guild that is going to be raiding in WOTLK. Hope you come back and check out WOTLK when it arrives.

Healing / we shamans hate patch 2.1
April 27, 2007, 11:05:07 AM
I can only speak with any sort of insight on shamans, I don't have enough experience as druid/pala in end game raiding. A resto spec shaman is good for absolutely nothing else then healing and putting down totems. Yes, we have some nice group buffs with totems....but they are only for the group. Priests have raid buffs. Wearing mail means nothing when you do Kara and heroics.

As for instant heals, resto shaman have nature swiftness on 3 min cooldown. Priests have shield on 15 sec cooldown per player. Shaman's have not hots either, only earth shield which can only be used on one player and costs a lot of mana.

My point here isn't that priests holy are great, I understand they have problems and should get some buffs. But blizzard is failing miserably with all hybrid classes and should realise that if you choose to spec to the end of any given tree you should be as good as it as the "pure" classes, but in different ways so they compliment each other.

Healing / we shamans hate patch 2.1

Quote from: TeaLeaf;186863....and seeing how Blizz still keeps trying to force pure healers totally out of the game by making hybrid healers better than the pure healers.....

TL.

Guess you are talking about holy priests, I understand they need some work atm. But to totally derail this thread and to contradict myself you can say that a resto shaman, resto druid, holy paladin are just as much a pure healer as holy priest. When you spec that far into the respective healing trees you loose the ability to do anything else with any degree of efficiency. In raids today you can't have people doing some healing and some dps. You need to do one of them and be good at it.

The same goes when classes with healing capabilites spec far into other trees like enhancement for shaman, prot for pala, shadow for priest. Then you effectively stop being a healer, at least when it comes to raid.

The only class today that can effectively fill two roles in a raid inside the same spec is druid. Tank and dps i feral.

But, back on track. Found this brilliant thread about shaman nerf on the US forums: https://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=98892232&sid=1

Long time no see...

So, how about doing some leveling on Sitha or Silverthorn anytime soon :flirty:

Kinda busy atm on Darkspear I'm afraid. They somehow tricked me into being GM for this "casual raiding guild" that we started with 4-5 rl friends. We are on our third week in Karazhan now. Got Attumen, Moroes, Big Bad Wolf and Curator down on our first week :).

But I do miss Aszune and SoG, I have some of my best WoW memories from playing with you guys :)

Healing / we shamans hate patch 2.1

Testing indicates anything from 10% to 20%+ dps nerf for enhancement shamans. This "bug" was what made enhancement a viable raid dps spec. As it is now I'm just barely able to compete with equally geared rogues, after the patch I will have no chance at all. And yes I think enhancement should do pretty close to equal damage as rogues, when you spec enhance you can't really do anything else.

As for elemental they took a huge hit to their sustainability.

I started levling my pally as soon as I read those patch notes. Figured I would try tanking for once. I'm prolly just setting myself up for large amount of frustration though, seeing how Blizz still keeps trying to force healer hybrids into pure healers.

Anyways hi all, long time no see. How are you all?:)

Healing / For the dualwielding shamans
February 08, 2007, 03:52:51 PM
Quote from: Sandrion;174804Nope, there is no cooldown. It adds a passive bonus that gives a 20% proc change on every hit. Check this for details: http://www.thottbot.com/?sp=25505 (note the cooldown field).

That link is for casting the windfury spell, not for the proc itself.

Healing / For the dualwielding shamans

Yes, but I also think there is an issue when you have the same WF on both that they share a cooldown, which they shouldn't imo.

Anyways, we'll see what happens. Having loads of fun with it now, outdamaging just about anyone I team with with comparable gear/level.

Well, from what I can see you get more dps not just burst. But there is a lot of theories running around and I'm no theorycrafter. My impression though is that I'm doing quite a lot more damage now, but I have also gotten better attackpower, crit, tohit etc lately.

Healing / TBC grinding/uplevel build

http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/shaman/talents.html?0000000000000000000050052000450013053112055001351000010000000

That is what I have atm at 67, I was maxed out in enhancement but once I started doing instances NS was too good to pass up. Just grabbing the last 3 points in unleashed rage now.

Of course shammervate would be better for pure grinding, but I find that with watershield and keeping my fingers off the shock buttons I can keep going for quite a while anyways. Do decent damage without shocks. Was grinding some firewing mobs last nite and after about an hour I had an average of 500ish dps, at least that's what recap told me. Lots of clothies there, those are fun :)

Use WF4 on right hand weapon and WF3 on left hand cause they don't share some cooldown. Not 100% sure how it works, but something about the different ranks not sharing a cooldown. Using different ranks enables you to get double windfury procs instantly. Throw in SS and you have a nice opener...with some luck.

Happens rather often and kinda fun when it does. Insta-killed a rogue in AV with it once, he even got the jump on me :)

The Clean Up / New healing calculations
November 17, 2006, 11:40:31 AM
Quote from: Aress;163419i wonder how the stackable healing hots are gonna work.. havin say 5-8 hots on the main tank that each heal for 180-300 a thick means main tank doesnt need alot of other heals for a while.

My priest probably gonna realy like this change because i love renew.

Or the bosses are gonna hit so hard that he needs those hots in addition to a lot of healing. It's not only player spells/skills that change with TBC, monsters will too :)

The Clean Up / Marduk's request

Quote from: Knabbel;162661So that means there is no posibily to add a pause for 1.5 sec?

You can't add pauses to ingame macros, if you could you could make robots :)

But as Akall said you can do this by buying a G15 keyboard from Logitech. You can make macros in this keyboard which includes pauses. And no, the keyboard isn't banned by Blizzard.
