dMw LAN XXXII / Real Ale #4
September 28, 2017, 03:37:35 PM
Just like last year we have some very kind people and businesses willing to sponsor some real ales or real ciders that will appear at the LAN for your enjoyment at a bargain £1.50 per pint. Some of these brews have been sampled by the now expert dMw GBBF drinking team, or have been sampled before and must make a come back.

REAL ALE #4

Cwtch by Tiny Rebel

Sponsored by: dMw Community

Another ale to add onto the list this year and sponsored by none other than our own community or in other words "all of us". Clearly you kind hearted members want to join in the merry making and help raise a glass to everyone attending the lan but also those who are absent this year. As such a big thank you to everyone for buying us all beer.

Cwtch is a returning beer from it's first appearance at last years Lan XXX. This Welsh Red amber Ale comes in at 4.6% ABV and won Gold place in the Best Bitter category along with Bronze place in the Overall Champion beers at the Great British Beer Festival 2017. If that was not enough it was also won Gold in 2015 GBBF for Best Bitter and Overall Champion beer, so a very well decorated beer and one we thought needs to make a return appearance.

Cwtch can mean either cuddle or cubbyhole. This untraditional Welsh red ale is a blend of six caramelly malts and three citrussy american hops. The colour and sweet toffee aroma comes from the caramelly malts, the citrus, tropical fruits, pine, and mango zing comes from the american hops. A moderate bitterness finishes off this very easy drinking and balanced beer.

REAL ALE #3

Goats Milk by Church End Brewery

Sponsored by: MikeP, Gunda, Pesteh and Milli

This beer is sponsored by some Overwatch obsessed dMw guys who have very kindly decided to sponsor a barrel of the finest UK made beer which we all hope to get some tastes of. If it is anything like the Blizzard game then we are in for a real treat, although may need to download the latest patch first or wait for the next character/class to come out.

Goats Milk is an Golden Ale / IPA but is classed and brewed as a Bitter and has a ABV of 3.8%, so a good session beer. It won Gold place in the Bitter category and also overall Champion Beer of Great British Beer Festival 2017. I think all of us got to try it at the festival, and it is a very interesting type of beer because it crosses so many different styles of ale. We would definitely recommend it as this beer will create lots of discussions at the bar about what you think of it while scratching your head waiting for the next pint.

REAL ALE #2

Infinity by Blue Monkey Brewery

Sponsored by: Albert and Duvel

They come from far and wide these dMw community game players, and these two chaps from the Netherlands have very kindly brought us some beer to sample and enjoy... Just a shame it has advertised our own Suicidal Monkey on the label in a lovely shade of blue but I think they got the grin right.

Infinity is an IPA style Golden Ale brewed with ‘Citra’ hops from the USA with a 4.6% ABV, which won Gold place in the Golden Ale category at the Great British Beer Festival 2017.  We all tried it at the festival and was our second highest rated beer of the day for us and well recommended.

"We brewed this to celebrate the famous ‘Infinite Monkey Theorem’. *If you don’t know what that is… Google it!
Fact:
Infinity is named after the ‘Infinite Monkey Theorem’, which states that a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter for an infinite amount of time will eventually type the complete works of Shakespeare! (there is hope for you yet Suicidal Monkey :roflmao:)

REAL ALE #1

Lemon Dream
by Salopian Brewery

Sponsored by: Lan / Lan server Admins = Chaosphere, Gortex, GhostMjr and No peanuts

Yes, we look after not only the running of the Lan but also wish to help make the event more celebrated, so from us 4 please raise your glass and drink everyone's health.

Lemon Dream is a Speciality Golden Ale and a real delight in drinking, at a good 4.5% this beer was rated highest by all attendees at the 2017 Great British Beer Festival. Even though it did not win an awards this year at the festival, we think you will be very surprised by how different this ale is to what you have ever tired before.

That time again for those few dMw members brave enough to put body and sole on the line in aid of great beer and cider.

As usual we will be aiming for the Friday (11th August) of the festival as this reduces the number of days needed to be taken off work and allows for the healing of sore heads and possibly bodies over the weekend :woot2::woot2::woot2:

For those also attending the October 2017 Lan we are also looking for some new taster beers or a possible keg or 2, so your presence and input would be valuable providing you remember what you drank..

Tickets are on sale now. Tickets - £11 pre-booked or £14 on the door if any left, also if your a CAMRA member then there is additional discount. Includes a free program. Follow link below to ticket site and further information.

July 28, 2016, 04:23:19 PM
Hey guys and girls

I am mega busy at work for the rest of this week so no idea if I will get time to even log on and put some food into the feeding bin at my base for my small collection of Dino's. Could someone if free drop some meat and berries into it for me? Will hopefully be back in game on Sat.

I have just been sent a link by a work colleague for what I think is a cool USB stick and thought worth sharing.

Attached picture might help explain why we did not get so far as usual in last nights raiding. Am a little surprised that he was not dressed in the Stars and Stripes.

Do we have a DMR horde guild of some kind?

I know we are priority Alliance and will always take preference but I have just rolled a horde toon to see what leveling it is like as a change from alliance.

Elite: Dangerous / X-box controller
February 05, 2015, 02:09:35 PM
I am thinking about possibly getting Elite over the weekend (or continue to level my mage)...... but I don't have a joystick to use and in experience using mouse and keyboard to fly anything ends up with me hitting trees, hills and any kind of structure.

I do have an x-box controller and wondering how well this works with the game and if anyone else has tried using one to play the game and can give their advice or tips for it. Will be the deciding factor I think.

Movies, Music & Books / Starwars Online videos
October 04, 2014, 12:27:15 PM
I was doing some clearing out of my hard drive and came across some videos I made / edited quite some time ago when we raided as a community in Starwars MMO. I have uploaded onto Youtube for others to enjoy or laugh at.

I am not a video expert by a long way so the quality may be lacking.

Just putting the idea out there but after last years fun am wondering if we fancy doing the Great British Beer festival again.

It runs from the 12th to the 16th of August and see the attached link for further details: http://gbbf.org.uk/

Perhaps we can organize another meet up and a similar great tasting list that Tut found last year (still have memories of the black forest gateau stout) to try.

Seriously though ... / Download 2014
April 23, 2014, 05:09:01 PM
Right then guys and girls I have a spare ticket to Download Festival 2014 which is held at Donnington Castle on 13th to 15th June and is for an RIP (rest in peace) camping ticket which means it is a great deal better than camping in the main camp site with the rest of the great unwashed.

This has come about because my beloved partner (game name Feezuki) has decided she only wants to attend 1 festival this year and has chosen Sonisphere as the preferred event as we are going to both but I still want to go and if possible not on my own. I have asked a few friends but they are not able to make it so thought I would shout it out to the community to see if there are any takers.

I can not sell on Ebay or similar site as the ticket require you to show ID as purchaser when entering the site for the RIP stay and will have a good chance of being refused entry. I also can not return it to ticket master and guarantee that I will get any money back for it. I also would rather it went to someone I have at least met and can trust.

I am willing to talk about the amount for the ticket and am happy to let it go a great deal less then market value but would rather do this over PM than in the forum.

I also have a 4 man with 3 rooms tent, and some camping gear so just bringing clothes, sleeping bag and cash might be all that is required.

I am also driving so can work out liftage from homes or neutral location.

The RIP has proper showers and ceramic flushing toilets which are cleaned on the hour every hour while we are there and from experience worth the extra cost. It also has a quiet policy so come midnight (I think is the time) your not allowed to be noisy and disturb others which is also a blessing if you have been rocking all day. In addition there is an onsite hotel with the barn of the hotel converted into a big bar, stage and drinking area with hot food being severed through out the whole festival and cash points.

I will also like to point out (although they may rather I did not) that Ninja is also going to the festival and is also in the RIP camping section so am sure we can get together for drinks, bands and general enjoyment.

Follow the below link for band line up and further information.

Does anyone still play this at all? I have been messing around with the smurfs for a bit but wondered if the wing is still in operation and then game holds any interest.

Seriously though ... / Using Can of Air
October 14, 2013, 04:06:30 PM
I brought over the weekend 2x can of air / air dusters which I intend to give the old PC a good clean (although it is not to bad tbh).

Thing is I have never used one before and instructions on the can seems pretty vague. I have had a look on the old interweb for advice but wondered if anyone had tried such a thing before and could advice to the best use for them.

Do I need to ground the machine before I start to avoid any chance of static build up?

Is there an advised distance to use it from? e.g 24"

Does it create an liquid issues that I need to be aware of?

I assume the PC should be cold before use but does it really matter?

etc...

Right then ladies and gentlemen.

I have 3 spare tickets (following the original people bailing) for this years opening matches of the Rugby Premier league which is being held at Twickenham. It is a double header day so this means you get to see 2 matches one after the other and it being rugby there wont be any crowd trouble because the opposition fans have a different colored top on and there is no home or away end.

I am not looking for money for the tickets so they are up for grabs, free of charge and on a first shout gets them kind of idea. PM me if want more details.

Matches on the day.

Counter-Strike / Awp
November 30, 2012, 03:04:52 PM
It was mentioned the other day to me during a game that the AWP is frowned on as a choice of weapon chosen and being used by a player.

This then made me realise if there are any other weapons which are not to be used, and if this is the case how are we meant to try and complete the achievements for this and any other gun.

If it is generally to be banned then what is the feeling to one or two nights a week where these guns are accepted and where we can work on getting these achievements. I personally have not played much on public servers and from what I have experienced and read about they are not much fun in comparison to our private one and so would be loathed for this to be the only option available to me.
