if I was to get a racing game, would you say LFS or GTL has more going for it? I've had a go at both and both seemed pretty fun. GTL seemed to be a bit easier to get into and the SP game seemed better?

Both games are good but I would argument for GTL.

The game is newer, better handling, sounds, cars and graphics - but the game is not that well developed when it comes to networks and such. That means, that for instance swapping car settings with another player in-game is not possible in GTL, you have to go to a menu elsewhere and download settings other have uploaded. On the network part LFS is the best I have ever seen. These problems might limit the use of GTL with many players, but IMHO the other advantages would make up for this problem.

GTL SP is, without doubt in my view, the best. LSF needs a fresh injection of an update. One (me anyway) gets bored 'runnin' up 'n' down this same ole strip'
There is a large contingent of folks making mods, some good, some not so good for GTL which keeps the interest factor going. But get both, they're both good.
GTL though needs a beefier machine to get the best out of it. The only downside as far as I can see.
