I know I've been a member for 5 years but I've only just worked out that an easy way to mark a forum read is to double click the notice board icon to the left of the thread.

I don't use that. I always use the "view new posts" shortcut:

I must say that after a few forumchanges I sometimes get lost a bit aswell.
I liked 1 thing though from a previous forum and that was when you enterd a Link you could add the link and then how you wanted to name the link. Not sure if that's still applyable?

I usually read the ones I want and then click on the "Mark Forums Read" link on the upper blue menu bar

Click on the box in the top right hand corner of the text entry dialog box - it has two capital A's in it. Click the internet link button above to paste your link in and then edit the link text immediately

I do the same. In the list of new posts I like the little icon to to left of the post, taking me to new post in the thread.

I just do the "New posts" too. if it's important it should be posted on/ bumped so I don't need to look. Seems to have worked so far.

If you click on quick links in the blue bar above, right click todays posts and choose "bookmark this link"
I have this bookmark saved to my bookmark toolbar at the top of my browser window.
