It is correct. The PC is the most upto-date platform for games where everything  gets run how the designer intended (except ports...but still they often improve them for PCs). The XBox 360 is very much about XBox Live which is about friends. And the Wii is about having people over and having a laugh.
Having had a large gathering at my house over Xmas people flock to the Wii and get really into it. Whereas the Xbox (running anything other than Guitar Heros 3) gets very little attention. Guitar heros 3 is good fun for parties etc but it doesn't make the whole console like the Wii.
As for the PS3...who owns one? (I mean who owns one without intending to use it mainly as a cheap Blu-Ray player?

From what I've heard (and this is from someone who has only read maybe 5 reviews, and has a brother who loves the xbox), most of the games on the PS3 are available on the Xbox as well. Game prices are cheaper on the Xbox, the console itself is cheaper, and Xbox live is a more polished product than the PS3 equivelent. And the PS3 suffers from slow-down in some games that the Xbox can run fine.

Having owned one I guess you'll be able to say which are just hear-say (and they were a terrible band) etc, and what makes it worthwhile? [Ok I'll give the Blu-Ray thumbs up, but is that it?]

i heard somewhere that the games will get 4 TIMES LONGER! than Xbox's in time to come.

Xbox is designed to break (ring of death).. why put red LED's around the on button if its not meant to break.
and not a weird control with no patter of buttons.

Thought the Xbox had the same :g:

Ill never buy a Playstation.. I hate the consoles (mainly because I suck  at playing them).. Brothers got an xbox, but meh.. I only really play racing games and fighting games (tekken and the likes) on consoles.. Never really grasped the whole 'Shooting games for consoles' either as the aiming is crap (for a guy like me anyways)

Hardcore PC fan here
That was untill wii came around.. Love that one :D

They have the *potential* to, as a BlueRay disk can hold significantly more than an DVD, and as you can already get all the  photorealisitc textures you need and awesome sound on a DVD the obvious way to go is longer levels, but this doesn't mean they will do that. Also, don't mistake quantity for quality. Compare Doom 3 (long and boring) with Call of Duty 4 (*very* short, but absolutely awesome and well worth every penny). The original Deus Ex took me a little over 24 hours of solid playtime, not including reloads, to complete (and that was on 1 CD), and was awesome, but one of the arguments levelled at it was that a lot of people never bothered finishing it because it was too long, so they tend not to make games that long. Mass Effect was equally awesome, and took 16 hours without doing any of the side quests. People are wary of making long games.

The 360 has free 'internet', demos, and game updates. The bit you have to pay for is multiplayer gaming. While I would prefer this wasn't the case, at least it's unified. Several articles i've seen have suggested that while Sony aren't (yet) charging for Home (tm) access, they will be charging on a per-game basis, so if there's 3 or 4 games you regularly play multiplayer it'll quickly end up more costly than just one XBox Live subscription.

On a little side rant here: Sony's system is so much more awkward to get running through any reasonable commercial environment firewall than XBox Live. XBox Live need 1 port. 1! For all games! OK, so certain services won't work through the kind of NAT we are able to run on a network our size, but people can play Halo online etc. We've yet to even manage to get the PS3 system to *connect*, let alone consider opening up the 200 or so ports that every game needs to run, a different range from game to game, cos Sony decided to make something on a peer-to-peer system...

As to 'Top quality games', i'm afraid that's a matter of opinion. I've not seen a single game out or due out soon for the PS3 that I care about at all that I can't also get on 360, and as previously stated a lot of the time they tend to run better on 360 than PS3 :boxing:. Sure, if there's a lot of PS3 exclusives that you really want to play or you want to watch BluRay movies without shelling out for an expensive standalone player, then it's the console for you. But for the majority of people, especially after a lot of previously Sony exclusives jumped ship due to bad PS3 sales, that's just not the case. Add to that that the games are cheaper for 360, the console itself is cheaper in the first place, and there are far more games currently available for it, and there's a pretty compelling argument for the 360 over the PS3.

QuoteXbox is designed to break (ring of death).. why put red LED's around the on button if its not meant to break.
Making a console specifically designed to break when most of the broken ones are being replaced by MS on warranty free of charge would be somewhat silly ;) At least they have a system in place to give you some idea of what is wrong :P Dell do the same on the back of their PCs, as do Alienware, so that when you ring up if you tell them the pattern of LEDs you're getting they have a better idea of what might be wrong and if it's user-serviceable or not.

Quoteand not a weird control with no patter of buttons.
:flirty:
Every controller has it's own idiosyncracies ;) Personally, I hate the fact that the PS3 controller, like the PS2 one, has no *usable* analogue buttons. Sure, they claim to be analogue, but the distance of travel is so tiny that using them as such is impossible. I find it far easier when playing racing games or the like to use the 360's analogue triggers for accelerate and brake, and use a stick to steer, than use 2 sticks that both move in 2 planes, like you tend to on the PS3.

I saw a PS3 exclusive today that looked good, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Have you played this one yet? It looks good I hope it comes out on PC.
