Atm there is zero need for frost resistance gear in any of the current content, unless you count the slim possibility of considering it for a 3 drake Sarth attempt, but then only if you were a feral druid.  So, basically I would not bother!

well, I managed to pick up the belt and chest on the AH for 30% market price so well chuffed :D nice and cheap and if it helps out the healers in the last two fights (as bob proved it does) then it's money well spent.

Tbh you nerf yourself so much with FrR gear that it does not really help at all imo.

At Sapph, if you are dps and not tanking then no FrR gear is needed and healers should cope fine.  If you are tanking then wearing FrR gear severley nerfs your stats and probably causes more problems for the healers with spike damage than not wearing it does (that's my opinion as a healer).  What helps the healers more is simply staying out of things like Blizzard.  Wearing Frost Resistance means people are accepting the damage when really they should be moving out of it before they get it so it does not address the real issue.

At KT again no FrR gear is needed.  If you are losing people to frostbolts then sort the interrupts out instead, wearing FrR gear does not solve poor cast interrupting! If it is frost blast you are trying to avoid then simply make sure that healers have the debuff added to Grid - 1 quick heal to the target and the problem is gone.

I think I would ask if you are tanking or dpsing.  There is a slim argument for FrR gear if you are tanking, but it tends to mask other problems as opposed to dealing with the underlying issue.  If you are dpsing then really there is no reason to use it at all.  Moving out of the debuff (blizzard) is a far easier solution and does not nerf your stats!

I would comment but u all know my views and TL has pretty much covered it all we have downed kt and sapph now twice and the only person wearing fr gear was bob last raid and all we had was one wipe through death then one through the lag spike. So 9/10 people didnt have frost resistant gear and it showed it wasnt needed ye it might take away some of the damage taken but all the time ive played as mage u tend to move when see a blizzard or hurricane etc coming  because ur squishy and its gonna hurt if u get hit and im pretty sure its the same for most classes .

Gandalf

Yup, I kinda agree, but as a melee dps I've a limited range of movement so if a blizzard hits me I either take it or move and stop hitting the boss. So I thought I'd give the gear a go to see if it helps.

TBH, the total cost is two days worth of dailies for me so it's no biggie and I checked my stats and I recon I'll be down 10% dps. And as it's been mentioned that it's a healing race, not DPS race I don't see it a problem. Each to their own. :D

Wow, interpunction ftw haha!

But I'm kinda split. FrR helps, sure. If for whatever reason you feel you can't be quick enough to get out of Blizzard you could wear one piece. But it's not an excuse for not trying, and I don't think you should overdo it by wearing 3+ pieces of FrR. Remember there's already the FrR aura up all the time in most cases.

Also, if I remember correctly, magic resistance comes in increments, like so (numbers are fictional as I'm not sure about them or if this mechanic is still the same):

At 75 resistance you have 25% chance of a resist
At 150 resistance you have 50% chance of a resist
At 225 resistance you have 75% chance of a resist

etc.

Then resist itself comes in increments too. You can resist 25, 50, 75 or 100% of the damage.

The number for resist is as normal with wow, 5 times the mob level for maximum effect, or 415 at level 80. Every increment of 83 (boss level) gives another roughly 20% towards this max effect.

Makes sense. Thanks. I suppose this 'effect' is still some combination of chance to have any resist in the first place, and then a chance of a certain % of resist.

Yep, that has not changed.
