"hl2.exe is not working" with W7-64-duel screens

For anyone who get the "hl2.exe is not working" error when starting games such as CSS and Neotokyo (and maybe L4D etc?) in W7 64bit and with duel screens, this might help you, I found a thread that suggested putting compatibility flag 'disable desktop composition' to source sdk base\hl2.exe, so I did this and :yahoo: both games now work with 2nd screen enabled! (disabling the second screen also works, but who wants that!)
 
I didn't get this with vista and seems to be a W7 related only.

I've got twin screens on W7 x64 and I'm not getting the error ... which is good because I didn't understand the fix :)
