Windows XP Professional - Remote access

Got a friend who just asked me this question:

"i am trying to set up remote access for my laptop and home PC to
access my computer at work.  How can I find the IP address of my home computer and how do i find it out for the laptop andwork desktop?"

I'm not au fait with XP Professional and the whole "slaving" malarkey - any one got sensible answers?

if the computer in question has the broadband device plugged into it then in a dos prompt type "ipconfig" and see what it says.  The public address will be the one to use.

But it's not particularly secure unless you install SSH for windows and it only gives a desktop view (you cannot transfer files in the way you can with laplink).

It is excellent as a remote support tool though (i use it on my own server)
