I played with grim the last two nights and I must say I am more convinced now to change my null vote to a NO.

I have voted Yes for the following reasons:
1) He is polite and non disruptive and has basically learned to play CS with us on the Hook. I recall him saying when he first joined that it was his first time playing CS. From the start he was a nice guy, if a little young, and was receptive to advice and criticism.

As for scouting RIO is a snipers paradise if your a CT and there plenty of players on the map.

Sure, but if a rush is called he should be rushing not sniping alone. If the call is pick them off I am all with it.

Italy last night (and Rio the night before). Call for rushes were made as CT on 4-5 rounds. Grim were never in on any of these. Found him at tunnel sniping every round we rushed. I told him that he needed to go with the team.

3) He only recently got a decent headset and mic and has said in the past he would not join a clan until he had voice comms. If he has been annoying he likely needs a few pointers and to get a chance to train with more experience players.

He is still very annoying over voicecomm. I had to tell him to stop talking several times last night.

Just to let you know that TL and I are working on the follow-up process for these polls.

Anyone who gets a 'No' vote will be advised on what they need to improve before bothering to reapply.

I'm confused. Grim got 6 votes to 2 in favour and yet he's not in the clan?
Could I ask what is the point of voting at all if it's goung to be ignored?

Or am I missing something.

Also could someone define the role of a TCS Admin as I'm confused as to exactly what the duties etc are.

Well, if you compare with the other guys who got in they had like 12-0 in their voting. 6-2 is not a clear yes to me. We had 4-5 null votes that I interpret as maybe and maybe is closer to no than yes. Also there were a lot of dicussion regarding his way of playing and I think that OB and TL did the right choice. GR can always reapply when he has improved his gameplay. I think that it is important that we have a hard judging of the applicants as it only strengthens our community by allowing the right elements to be part of the community. We have to have a shiny badge if you catch my drift.

I tend to agree with Simodon 6 - 2 is 75% of the vote in favour. A null vote is exactly that, discounted, you don't have a revote in an election if the winning party get 75% of the vote a and a load of others fail to cast a vote.

If all it takes is one person to not take a shine to someone therefore stopping their chances of becoming a member of Bravo, then it is a bit Elitest in my opinion.

If you cast a Null vote, that tells me you don't know the person well enough to judge their suitability. Casting a Null vote because you don't care either way is a bit pointless and the voters loss if cast.

So back to Grim, 6 votes for 2 against, 150 null votes that don't count. Sorry but I think we have this process wrong, and it is definately not democratic.
Cheers, Bert

i think its fair to say that putting a null vote due to not knowing the player flags up a concern .......and when a number of admin type people say the same i would say he needs to be on the server a bit more

Grim has had a personalised reply.

What TL and I will do is precis the negative comments made and inform the recipient accordingly.

In the case of Grim this was my wording:

QuoteHi Grim

I'm sorry to tell you that you have narrowly failed to gain membership of our Bravo Company.

The admins felt that you were let down by your teamplay.

What we'd like you to do is re-apply in two months time and in the meantime work on the following:

Concentrate on what the rest of your team are trying to achieve and be part of that plan rather than being a lone figure often sporting a sniper rifle. Pay particular attention to the play being called. You are often missing when a 'rush' call is in effect. Use your voicecomms wisely.

We hope you are not too disappointed with this decision and look forward to seeing you on the server again soon.

Each reply is personalised telling the applicant why he/she wasn't approved.

As we have now revised the voting criteria it is only fair to go back to Grim and offer Bravo membership to him.  I have sent him an email to this effect this evening.
