changing hdd

now my hd is getting full iwanted to put windows and all my stuff on my new 150 gig hdd ...
 on making it a master and disconnecting old hdd my pc took ages to boot and after it did i formatted said hd and rebooted to install windows ...still it took ages to boot .is it a mobo issue or something like that? :unsure: mobo is an Abit nf7s

I've seen some hdd's act funny if they're set to master but have no slave device on the same channel, same goes for some boards as well.
