This post highlights an issue that has been close to occurring several times and finally occurred tonight.

Anyone got any bright ideas other than slapping Doris ;)

I like your idea, but I have some more attractive ideas.
  • Ignore them and wait until the new server is installed - it's only a fortnight or so away and patience is good for your health.  When it's in we can probably run the servers full time.
  • Ignore them until they learn to use the TANGOing telephone numbers on Availability.  It's what they're there for!
  • Ignore them until they learn to use the info they already have to help themselves.
  • Ignore them so that we don't waste valuable time setting up remote admin for servers that will then be totally destroyed when we swap the new server into the rack.
  • Ignore them.
Optional Extra:  Slap Doris  (can be applied at no cost to any of the above options)

Alternatively we could ignore them

Tbh I think it was quite good it happened. Especially to MAD_ness as he in the past have been whining in the SL direction when things haven't been running smoothely for various reasons. It is very good that he gets a taste of what is required for SL management and the effort needed. I say turn off the server next Sunday as well and see if he learnt anything.    ;)
