I'm pretty sure that since I've been in the clan that it's ideology has been a community not direct competition. It's been about getting together having fun, and has never been exclusive. You can be in Bravo (probably even charlie) and still play matches with another clan.
There are times when the admin get a bit too worked up over a game, but it's not easy being an admin...you can't please everyone. One group settles down and another one rears it's head.
You say the clan hasn't modernised, and yet has changed, and for the most part people are happy, which seems to be contradictary, it's changed with time into something new to suit the current style of play which is almost the very definition of modernisation. There is a VERY active forum, a steam group through which I'm frequently invited to play, and comunicate with other members, and I've access to the admins IM details for pressing concerns.

But back to the point, I 100% agree that people who want to play matches should be able to apply for them, even while still in Bravo, I'm sure there are hundereds of clans with a similar attitude to competitive gaming (more casual, but still a good match) and I've no doubt the admins will be seeking them (or arranging internal matches etc) to appese the masses (or significant minority).
Baldric is rarely used and could house 4 vs 4 matches most nights of the week judging by Boomer attendance on week nights if matches were agreed upon. And I wouldn't be suprised if some major match related changes happen soon with all the admin restructuring that occured recently.

Interesting point. What about an in-house league?

We have been discussing an in-house ladder in the admin section.

As far as Freestylers original post was concerned:
I don't think some people appreciate the amount of time and effort that goes in to keeping a community this size running.  I spend more time in a week doing things like admin on the servers, researching new server software, configuration of the software, looking at new maps, getting things ready for admin training/doing admin training and looking at people for promotion, than I do in the job I get paid for.

We want to play competitively again but only when we have the time and people to do it properly.

Bravo company never played matches until recently (last year) and they just filled in when no member of Charlie was available.  Matches have always been for Charlie company, it's one of the things that make it special and worth working towards.

And to comment - when Charlie you play for dMw only

He's not kidding :narnar:.

League table sounds good, not on an individual basis but some sort of team basis.

Ya!! It's not like we don't have enough people for an inhouse league.. Perhaps we can get some of the BIG boys in on it too..

Whitey, PM me if you need any help.

Another point I would like to add is that most of the CS admins are involved in admin school at the moment which limits our available "extra time". Once admin school is rolled out we will have more admins being able to sort inhouse leagues or tournaments. As you might have noticed the last months we haven't been inactive in the CS section.

To be fair,

The group is great and have a great laugh all round....

the admins do a great job of both cleaning the forums up (of the crud)
they also do a great job of getting rid of the trouble makers on the servers....
just one word to an admin and miscreent is gone (although I'm still around :D)

If the servers and the forums were not fun and entertaining i would personally not be sticking around..... especially if it was full of over competative yoofs or the "in my day" old gits...

the forums and style of play has changed..... forums posts are good and with quality , the servers are updated on a regualar basis and baldric was used to play the VIP mod :D which was great to add an extra tactical way of playing cs:s........

I fell away from CS:S months into owning it because it was full of spray and pray monkeys using playschool tactics... after talking with lib he showed me the way to this server and its great..

As for the other servers the BF2 server is never up (nevermind one day the admins may decide to reserect it)
one of the old BF2 servers now is being used as a BF2142 (in my understanding) which is great just wish i had someone on there other than my bro to kill and maybe get some informal matches on there (not organised jsut 4 v 4 no ranks or comps).....

as for competitions and the like or ladders yes this would be great but it is not really needed when DMW is just such a nice place to be that is protected from the idiots that seem to plauge the other servers.....

personally i dont think DMW should change or modernise as it would distract what DMW is all about and what it set out to be in 2001 agree'd it must move with the times but the history must be there and the DMW family must remain in its heart and soul of its type of play and players or be it that it turns into the gutter style server of which CS:S is littered with
Are you going to come quietly, or do I have to use earplugs?

1) Seconded
2) In my days!!!
3) [BiG] seems to have a nice BF2server running. Concerning our BF2142server, let me know when. During the week I don't have alot of gamingtime but during the weekends I enjoy a fair game of BF2142 (preferbly ranked but would like some rounds unranked on our server aswell).
