How small and cheap do you think you could get a PC which is powerful enough to have a good time at one of our LANS?

This would be a good start - http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=522393 - £17.61 Inc VAT

I plan on bringing the keyboard I presently use, this one

It needs some reworking with short-cuts in CS, as some of the regular combos do not register (f12 via fn key fx) but I just love it.

Lameduck

You can have fun with just a keyboard? :roflmao:
It would take me 3 days to learn the layout

Zootoxin

Ok so thats the keyboard sorted.
So size wise we've got to be thinking MicroATX I reckon.
Whats the most demanding game at the LAN COD4 or BF2?

CoD4 for sure but it would depend what the surprise game will be.

Do you want a computer as small as possible which also packs some heat?
If so, have a look/try at the LAN at my comp.

EDIT, thought you were joining the LAN aswell.

Check out Shuttle or similar FormFactors.
MicroATX and such are the smallest motherboards and such atm I believe.
Survivor of LAN V, VI, VIII, IX, X, XII, XIV, XVI, XVIII, XX, XXIV, XXX, XXXII, XXXIV and XXXVI so far...

thats a lot to pay for a keyboard!!!!

If you have tiny hands you could use one of these or one of these if you have larger hands

I got a very good deal on it so I paid approx. £35 for it incl. P&P

I think if we get a good idea together it could serve as a reference for everyone wanting to attend the LAN but no have to move their pride and joy around the country.

As James will tell you they don't always talk kindly to it

Small and prefabricated tend to cost a lot. Also, gaming performance from various smaller form factors is not that good, I would think. So, the best way around this would be to do like Duvel I think. Buy a shuttle or similar and buy some cheap, small HIDs to go with that. Big issue is monitor.

I've allready PM'd Venom my specs and such.
For those interested;

Here's my specs;
Shuttle SD37P2; BFG VGA GeForce 8800 GTS OC2 320 MB; Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz, 2 MB; Corsair TWIN2X 1024-5400C4PRO 1024 MB, Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005, Samsung HDD SpinPoint 80 GB, Seagate HDD Barracuda 300 GB, NEC DVD-RW.
For bringing it a to the LANs I have a special Shuttlebag.

I got it just before the October LAN in 2006. Costs; around 1500 Euros with tax included. It should be loads cheaper atm and there are also loads of newer SFF's out.

I upgraded my graphicscard in the meanwhile (from a 7900 to a 8800) and also memory. I had some heatproblems in the beginning but got that sorted.

It survived 3-4 LANs in the meanwhile.

If anyone's interested in Shuttles or other SFF's, here's an excellent forum for it; http://www.sudhian.com
An interesting link here; http://www.littlepc.com/

And btw, the smallest atm is mini-ITX

Don't worry about Sadako's Surprise, I'm not sure we're going to get ourselves sorted for it (make that I'm not sure I'm going to get myself sorted). The original game we planned doesn't run on Vista (quel supris), so we're looking at others.

COD4 will be the most demanding thing at the LAN (after Doorman of course :flirty:)
