Just placed my order for the iphone with Vodafone.

QuoteiPhone 3GS 16GB Black

Ã,£30 a month
Ã,£149 for the phone

Not bad i thought..... My first step away from the SonyEricsson.
I will let you know how it is in a few weeks when it arrives.

When you consider the cost of the phone, over a 24 month contract that adds the equivalent of Ã,£6.20 a month. 1GB cap on the internet is a bit low compared to T-Mobiles 3GB, but I have no idea how much I actually use my internet.

A quick browse of facebook Statuses and loading a picture is 570kb.
A youtube video is approx: 5.5mb (for 4 mins)
A flash based video burntfaceman episode 1: 1.5mb (though the iPhone doesn't (and doesn't plan to) support Flash)

(these totals were just taken from a running total off an android widget so other data use from programs running in the background could have inflate the numbers)

If you're an internet junkie you might find yourself hitting a 1GB limit and having the connection speed throttled back.

All in all not a bad price for a 3GS, but much more expensive than a Hero would have been :narnar:

Aye very possibly. Especially if you use it for getting all your emails and such. I guess it depends on your area and whether wi-fi is available. I have to rely on 3G the majority of the time so I hammer through through 3G rather heavily.

Good fun though - hope you enjoy it and let us know if you come across any decent apps.

Co-Pilot for Ã,£25 is pretty good if you like that sort of thing.

I had the windows mobile version of this. Well worth the money to have a sat nav on you at all times (even in someone else's car etc) If you don't drive much with the internet you can get google maps, or multimap etc for directions, but nothing beats turn by turn navigation.

... which is something we'll get for free with the new Google Maps as soon as HTC decides to push out Android 2.1 to the Hero! The rumours say something between the first quarter and first half of 2010, so keeping my fingers crossed it will be sooner rather than later :)

I'm with T-Mobile and they delay by a couple of weeks or so their firmware updates too. I'm looking forward to it especially with all the extra features it includes but it's not here yet :crying:.

As far as what's on the market currently I think CoPilot is one of the best. I've used TomTom, Garmin, The AA Navigator, etc (my dad was a salesman and had gone through lots of sat navs), if you don't have an android phone, or even if you do and can't wait a month or two for the free software, copilot is good and worth Ã,£25.
