Here's a tip. If you get a black flag for a 'false start', (it was a twitch of the toe for god's sake! :sideways:) go to the pit and take your punishment like a man. Don't do what I did and carry on regardless. I always imagined a black flag meant you were DQed. It does IRL anyway.

This little app may be handy for those that use different configs for different cars in iRacing. i.e. H Shifter or Sequential.

I just had to stop driving to tell about this.

My tips is:

Get in there and try the new Mazda. It feels like a Skippy on steroids now. It has a new aero package and a new tyre model. Goes over curbs as well as anything. Feels more like the FOX than ever, but with iRacing FF. Awesome! :yahoo:

Interesting! I watched a few videos of the real-life Star Mazda previously, and it looked a lot more lively than the iRacing version (before the newest build, that is). Seems like they're on to something with the new tyre physics!

I just spent some time in the SRFord too, and it is much more neutral now. (Need to change setups) But it is more planted and you don't have that fear (feeling) of loosing it all the time.

The new Corvette and the Dallara will also have the new tire model. The DPrototype and the Jetta have also got redused engine braking. The DP feels better, but since I have gotten used to the old Jetta, it was more difficult for me now.

Yeah, I think since they hired that vehicle dynamics engineer they are pinpointing what is wrong and slowly but surely fixing it.

Many people wants to join iRacing for the upcoming Williams F1, but does not want to do the "Career" thing as in driving all cars up to Class A.

When you enter iRacing you get two road cars and start at the Rookie Level.

The advancement to other classes is done by increasing your Safety Rating (SR). As a new rookie you get a SR of 2.5.
Everytime you increase your SR above 4.00 you are promoted to the next class and your SR drops by about 1.00 point. In rookie you get to use the
Pontiac Solstice at first and when you reach 3.0 you can race the Spec Racer Ford (SRF), also included as a free rookie car.

A few months ago iRacing started using FastTrack which means that everytime your SR is above 4.00 and you have done your minimum participation requirement, you are instantly promoted to the next class. This together with the fact that you can run the next higher class when you have SR 4.00 or above gives the possibility to advance to class A with only one extra car and one track.

Here is an explanation I copied from the iRacing forums.

-------

At rookie you get your SR to 4.00 and that gives you auto promotion to D. You then raise the SR to 4.00 again still using the Rookie cars ( I'd

suggest the SRF )... you don't get promoted because you havn't yet done your Minimum Participation Requirement.

As a D level license holder you must do 4 TT's/Races in at least a Class D car.. but because you have a SR of 4.00 you can drive the Mazda level C car.

Do your MPR of 4 TT's (in the Mazda or Radical) and you have now achieved your MPR for D AND C in one go.

Re-Raise your SR to 4.00 ( using any of the 3 cars ) and you are now a Class B driver.

Get your SR to 4.00 again and you can drive a Class A car.

Now one thing you should be aware of is the Williams car was announced at the Autosport show with no deadline. They have JUST signed the

agreement and are starting on it now. That means it won't arrived for some time, it'll be 2010 and most likely first half 2010, but not for a few months.

Therefore once you hit Class B SR4.00.. you have to make a choice ( and you may as well make it when you get the Mazda ) in what you fancy racing in the meantime.

Let's say you bought a track to get your Mazda MPR done, so you buy a 3-pack deal of content - so get the Dallara.

That gives you two open wheelers and the two rookie cars ( although the Solly is horrid ) to tide you over till the F1 arrives.

That moves us onto Tracks.. the F1 car won't follow any kind of typical F1 Schedule in terms of tracks. It can't, iRacing doesn't, and won't have them for a while yet. So expect to see it at road tracks the same as used by the Dallara (when that's racing in road trim).
