Been reading up on forumes on p2, and there was this guy..

QuoteWe prefer to just stack the raid in phase 2 - it also makes the "heal everyone to full before pushing for phase 2" much easier.
Chimaeron's swing timer is slow (I think it's 5 seconds, feel free to correct me) - coupled with his huge hitbox and his decent movement speed, it basically means he has time to travel the whole room to reach raiders between his swings if you try to spread. On the other hand, stacking your raid ensures you can reliably tell on vent who will get aggro next, allowing them to be ready to use threat dumps and/or CDs.
I would try to bring as many CDs as possible for a first kill - mirror images, deterrence, evasion, dispersion... they all save some precious seconds.
Also make sure to blow bloodlust / heroism as you're pushing him into phase 2, so it's up when you have everyone alive. Every little bit helps ^^

Tbh... This would boost dps alot. I hate when p2 kicks in and we all run around like headless chickens watching Omen and being all retarded. Can we just stay put infront of him and use all the CDs in the world while keeping dps rotation up?

Shamans popping earth/fire elementals here aswel, i presume.

QuoteIn order to increase your chance of survival, you can apply the following tricks (listed by decreasing priority order):

  • If you are a Mage, then use Mirror Image when the boss targets you and the boss will waste 3 swings killing the images. This is best used right after the two tanks die, if you are next highest aggro target.
  • Ensure that the healers die before you by transferring your threat (or part thereof) to them. If you are a Rogue, you can use Tricks of the Trade and if you are a Hunter, you can use Misdirection.
  • If healers are still alive after that, use whatever abilities you have to permanently decrease your aggo in order to make sure that Chimaeron targets the healers. Mages can use Invisibility, Warlocks Soulshatter, Rogues Feint and Vanish, Priests Fade, Shamans Wind Shear, and Feral Druids Cower.
  • If you are a Paladin, you can cast Hand of Salvation on DPS classes that cannot lower their threat, Warriors and Balance Druids for instance.
  • If you are a Rogue and Chimaeron targets you, then use Evasion so that you might dodge a few of his attacks.
  • If you are a Retribution Paladin, then use Divine Shield when you are targeted.
  • Hunters can make their pets use Intervene to die in someone else's stead.
  • If nothing else is available:

You could edit the list before posting, boss!?

Quote from: TeaLeaf;325596We still saw some 60 second stacks, so we think we need to go to a third 'dps' tank.  Unfortunately last night coincided with us having two of three main tanks offline and we had to run Grim as a second tank (thank you) but run a two tank strategy not a three tank.  The bad news is that the two tank strat needs a lot of cooldons and we were running out and getting tank gibs.  If we want to do this reliably then I think we run 3 tanks with the third in dps spec as a main tank - say a death knight in blood presence.  We then have two tanks to handle break and the stack double strikes and should be able to rotate to avoid having a break+double strike.

1 taunting dps main tanking
1 tank double strike taunting
1 tank for tanking during feud with double strike taunting from tank 2 to avoid break + double strike issues

9% was our best try.  It will drop next week with 3 tanks I reckon.

In 2 tank mode we saw some wierd melee gibs on Grim even though Whitey had taunted as a stack phase started. Anyone found anything as to why the taunt at the start of the stack phase seemed so unreliable?  The taunts for double strike were working fine, but the stack phase taunt often had Grim getting gibbed some 4 seconds after the tank switch for some reason.
I think last night proved this point.

We need to run two 'proper' off-tanks and then a third dps-tank.  We're without Grim on Sunday, so I'd suggest we run Twisted in blood spec as the dps tank and then use Hal & Whitey to soak the double strikes and spread the break love.  We've shown that we lose an OT when we do not spread the break damage around.

Got the kill last night.  For future reference and to help RGW (and us in repeat kills)

The highest stamina tank went as Double Strike (DS) tank.
The other tank went as Feud tank.
Ret pala was MT.

DS Tank taunted ALL double strikes throughout the fight.
Feud tank taunted boss immediately we went into Feud, and taunted boss back again after DS end.
MT taunted boss back after Feud ended (ie when Finkle's mixture buff was back up).

NOTE:  We had some issues when taunting quickly at end of DS where the newly taunted tank picked up some late hits from boss (ie a DS).  We eventually delayed his taunt by up to 2 seconds (as it is a 5 second swing timer) and this seemed to remove late DS hits on the wrong tank.

We used LoH rotation on Feud tank immediately we went into Feud.  We had 3 palas and you aim for 3 Feuds before moving into P2, so this was ideal. You could replace the LoH rotation with shaman NS or any other big instant heal.  The aim is to get the Feud tank up to full health within 2 seconds of Feud starting to avoid the first 120k melee swing killing him.

During Feud, all healers initially focus on Feud tank until he was at full HP, then brought DS tank up to full HP before the DS starts.

You can mitigate on the Feud tank or DS tank during Feud with healing CDs or tank CDs/trinkets and this is highly recommended.

At Feud, healer prio was to heal Feud tank NOT to move to collapse point.  First AOE not for 10 seconds, so there is time to move later, the prio is to heal the Feud tank, move, then heal up DS tank.  Healers take the closest points to collapse.  Collapse point is the MT, directly in front of the boss.

P2 Transition notes:
Watch the Massacre timer and boss HP%.
Massacre is every 30 seconds.
At 27% we had a Massacre and I called raid to collapse point.
Boss HP was 25% by the time we had all collapsed.
Called Heroism and and we blew all AOE heals (health stones, healing hymns, h.rain, tranq, everything & anything)
Aim was to get raid up to 100% HP and push boss HP% below 22% before next Massacre.
Got to 21% with 7 seconds to spare before Massacre and boss put up the Mortality (99% reduced healing) debuff.
We remained in collapse point and just burned all the way using any personal CDs. (good time to use disc bubbles, PW:Barrier etc as these still work as they are not direct heals)

Hope this helps.
