nVidia Unified Driver Pack v3.13 (03 Nov 2003)

Contains:

Audio driver 3.66 (WHQL)
Audio utilities 3.66
Ethernet driver 3.63 (WHQL)
GART driver 3.34 (WHQL)
Memory controller driver 3.38 (WHQL)
SMBus driver 3.38 (WHQL)
IDE In-the-box driver 3.58 (WHQL)
IDE 2.0 NVIDIA driver 3.66 (WHQL)
Display driver 52.16 (WHQL)
Installer 3.77

This is the pack with the eagerly awaited nVidia SW IDE drivers - supposed to give IDE performance a nice shot in the arm.  Also newer audio drivers with tweaks for better EAX performance.

Just installed 'em.  They haven't broken anything.  Seem to be a slight improvement in PCMark2002 benchies, most notably in HDD peformance.  So far, so good  :thumbsup:

Errr, do I just install this over the top of the existing driver pack?
Should I uninstall anything first? :unsure:

Oh and while I remember, I installed the 52.16 Nvida video drivers at the LAN, over the top of the existing ones, should I have uninstalled the older ones first, and if so should I uninstall and re-install the 52.16 drivers again? Or am I just p1ssing into the wind? :unsure:
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

As a general rule, where video drivers are concerned you should try to uninstall old drivers first.

For these non-gfx driver sets I would also uninstall the old ones first - as per the instructions that were linked to on the download page :)

That's good practice.  Although the way the UDP installer works is to first uninstall and delete the old drivers and then install the new drivers in their place.  It does this sequentially, on a driver-by-driver basis.

I did mine straight over the top of the old ones, in safe mode just in case Windows file protection got in the way of things.  Worked like a charm.

DO set a system restore point, or take a ghost/drive image of your C: drive before you start; and DO turn off any anti-virus stuff you have running whilst you are doing the install.  Just in case ;)
