Still not go my game.... Pretty peeved!

The post round here is known to be really bad, I normally get mail at 5pm every other day and its just undirected mailshot leaflets rather than post. If its not recorded delivery where they give you cash if it doesn't turn up in time it will take a week even if its first class (if arriving at all). No wonder why Royal mail are not making any money....

Rant.... Rant.....

I'd like to add to the rant-pile this morning.

I grabbed a copy of BF3 from HMV when I was in London yesterday, and when I went to use the serial key to activate it this morning I was told that "This key has already registered".

Yes, some pikey thieving scumbag who works at HMV (must have been staff, the shop boxes were empty) has pinched my key and used it. I'm now off to HMV Cambridge in an attempt to get a refund, and am fully prepared to kick off if I don't get one.

That'll teach me to buy retail :(

Seems to me, the common theme of all rants here have been that people bought from channels other than origin, be it physical media or digital downloads from other sources.

I've bought loads of games through the years, most on physical media, and from what I gather, it's all been for nothing. Especially EA titles should never be bought on disk. Physical media means less profit for them, and they will find a way to punish you for it.

Origin is using the stick. Buy through Origin or you'll get crappy service. Steam uses the carrot, buy through us and you'll get extra features. Since Origin is run by EA it would be even easier for them to use the carrot "Buy with us and we'll give you the savings for missing out the middleman", but £40 for a new game that you can buy in stores for £29 on Amazon doesn't make sense when it's direct from the manufacturer. EA games that I've purchased on Steam can be activated in origin (Similar to buying a steamworks game in the shops) if the same can be done with the Origin copies they're shooting themselves in the foot. If they sell to Amazon for £25 and they make £4 profit they'd earn more through origin selling for £28 and they don't have to do anything extra.

I got it replaced, after a small argument.

The first bloke I spoke to told me I had to go back to London. When I politely told him that wasn't going to happen, he went and fetched the manager who sorted out a replacement copy for me.

Lesson learned: if a shop sells you a game, don't accept it if the box has been opened.
