Network Quality to High velocity

I still seem to be having issues with network connectivity to HV. I know that myself, OB , DuVeL plus a few others are still experiencing loss and/or choke.

I ran Ping Plotter to a Baldric with 5 people on server. trace is here for perusal. It's not great

BT are making some changes to the HV realm which kick in over christmas. I would review it then. At the moment some peeps end up routed to London, across to Frankfurt and back and that is a known temporary situation until BT deliver what they said they woudl deliver. HV have a decent rep for speed so I reckong they will get this right.

There seems to be a problem between xchangepoint.net and HiVelocity. I have recorded a ping plotter trace and taken a screen grab. The screen grab shows one of the occasions when the route from xchangepoint to Hivelocity changed dynamically and they try to add an extra hop in between!!

Have a look at the data set and in particular the route changes which happen quite frequently (a window should appear middle left of ping plotter dialog box just below the list of IPs you have traced to - you can see the route change times there - double clicking a time will show the route change)

Hopefully once you look at the data it will make more sense

I know the realm is not yet sorted, BT are still playing at getting it right so it may be too earlier to follow this up. However, if it is a long term thing then Hi-V will want to get it sorted and we can contact them directly at a high level to see what can be done. I'd hold fire for the moment though until we know BT have actually done what they said they would do.

Must admit I have never seen anything like this before. It just seems to be randomly adding in the extra hop and then ignoring it again. I think that one of those 2 hops has something badly misconfigured

I've just noticed that none of the dMw servers appear in the server listings on Steam (well not for me anyway). I cannot even get my own server to appear but thats down to issues with my router.

Can others see our servers in the main listing (rather than in favourites)?

This is an issue being looked at as a priority by Oldbloke. Now that we are sat behind a nice big hardware firewall we need to get the ports opened so that we do appear (as we used to) in the server lists. OB is on the case and is liaising with G-man.

FYI:

My Pingplotter logs indicate that there may be a problem with Jenna (Hi-V's core router) however according to Hi-V there are a number of transparent ATM-L2TP hops between peeps like me and Jenna and it is one of these that is the real cause of the problem.

BT are on the case, trying to fix what they broke.
