A guy I work with spent yesterday afternooon paintballing and has been telling me about it.

It sounds fantastic (I've never done it) and right up our street. Why?

Well the people running it (Go Ballistic) use some of the best kit available and seem to base it around CS. The game types are CTF, VIP and Bomb.

What I liked was you can also use Smoke Grens and HEs  8O

Half-day sessions are £4.99 plus £6 per 100 ammo.

Anyone fancy a session in the Summer sometime?

I should add it's not for the faint hearted. He's covered in painful bruises.

It is a good laugh as long as no-one takes their own kit, level playing field and it's good fun....
I'll play.

Budget for at least £60-70 quids worth of paintballs.

These are my experiences only but ..... I have played with a bunch of guys on a budget. The game was rubbish.  Paintball isn't a sneak about, it's a full on in your face battle. To be even a bit useful you are going to have to lay down a lot of fire.

I play mostly rough terrain (woods etc) and to really play properly you have to fire off a good 100-150 rounds a game. Depending on how long you play (half day, whole day) it soon racks up. Urban (in buildings) and speedball (obsticals - like on the TV show) are even worse. My last game, we spent about £80 each for a days ammo.

I'm no great paintball expert, but I know some people who are, and my seven or eight sessions back their advice up, that the team that fires the most rounds, kills the most enemies, moves more effectively accross the terrain , completes the most objectives and wins the most games. There's no such thing as sniping in paintball.

However as long as you are moderately fit it's a great day out, just not that cheap. Go for it. But it's worth budgeting for it.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I have my own marker and mask. I usually play with some friends of mine. CTF is soo funny. You run out of ammo very quickly though. :D

count me in. I used to play 'a lot'

I did have my own gear and used to use that. Last time I went was on a works do at a site around the M25 and they 'requested' that I turn the power on my gun down as they didn't want any fatalities! hehehe, the beauty of your own gear is that you can tweak it.

Oh, I never got hit the entire day. Once :) I R l337!!!!  :mp5:

Cake: Four large eggs. One cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. Three/four cups butter or margarine. One and two third cups granulated sugar. Two cups all purpose flour. Fish shaped ethyl benzene. Twelve medium geosynthetic membranes. Three tablespoons rhubarb, on fire.

That's cos you had your own gun....cheat!!!
Bloke at our last place had his own, fired about 20ft further than the local rented ones, and fired in straight lines....f'eh :D

yep from my experience dont expect any shots to fire straight, takes a coulpe of games to compensate. Also be aware that for the next 3 days your legs and arms will be non-funcationall.

Ive loved both paintball sessions, i even had a chat with the enemy mid game, that was until he realised i had my gun pointed at his nuts, where upon he surrendered he he he.

Yep expect to spend a good 60-80 quid on the day on ammo etc. but its truely worth it.

Looks damm good fun. With the amount of ammo used surly its worth getting the Armagedon pack. 1000 balls, smoke and HE for £50?
