just bought a new heatsink and fan combo. only a cheep on as thats all i need till i upgrade. its just a coolermaster that i got from maplin for a fiver!

will support up to 1.2gig so my 800 will b fine. only thing is that im having a bit of trouble fitting it. the only one fits no problem, but i cant get the metal clips down in the new one as it appearsnot to b long enough.

i have to replace it really as the old fan is starting to pack in and make a lot of noise.

ne ideas on gettin it to fit?

Sheepy appears and begins to stroke my head. According to his slurred drunken speech I am "lovely and like a fuzzy felt". Thankfully he soon leaves and passes out somewhere. [/quote]

Some of the restraining bands really need to be forced onto the clips.  My advice:  Use brute force, but carefully!  They often need a bit more ooomph than you think - just make sure you don't crack your mobo though!  The only other thought which I doubt is relevant is to make sure the band is properly located on the sink.   I had trouble with my Zalman Flower at one stage until I noticed that I had inadvertently slotted the band it into the wrong gap

And make sure you are jamming it on the right way round. I've been there with an AMD fan and I melted the bugger  :(
