Quote from: Mazii;159794World Record is 64 min i think.
That was from June 2006, but since they buffed the Sulfuron fight a couple of patches back that's where the extra time comes from.

The time of the Axemen (on 70min), that's also from before they buffed the Sulfuron fight, right?

I believe so Bob, yes.  Still, to beat either would be really cool.

Also: Mega Credits to TL, for organising the run, putting some real effort in leading us through it, and preparing the whole thing.

Awesome work Teaelle :thumb:

RG1 cleared BWL tonight and after a very shaky 3 attempts at Vaelestraz actually cleared the instance in a total time of 2 hours 50 minutes, a new record for SOG.  If we skip the two wipes on Vael then 2 hours 30 is about the equivalent time.  Nice work folks!

Congratulations folks

That's 9 minutes better than our previous record, and that even with two whipes!  Really impressive :yahoo:

Just too bad I couldn't be there :sideways:

Knabbel

Now combine those two 40 manish raids

1h30min + 2h30min = 4 hours. Starting at 19:15 finishing @ 23:30...(getting into BWL 15min)

I'm afraid it will not work that way..... as 4 hours of constant pulling is a little bit to much I think....

Good job fellows!!!

Aye, but we ought to be able to get BWL down to 2 hours 30 min

SOG RG1 got the Twin Emperors down to about 40% tonight in a pretty smooth encounter before finally succumbing to their melee and spell damage.  Raid DPS was a little bit above the required level for us to defeat them and so we're going back to take them down on Tuesday after a quick run through BWL to clear the instance first.  Wish us luck!

Good luck! :D
Question though, do you everytime have to take a certain route to a boss or does defeating 1 boss mean you get to some sort of next part off the game?
Just interested and curious here...

In most instances there is no choice about the route and order in which you can do things.  So each Wednesday morning when the main raid instances are reset we can enter them on Thursday night and all the Bosses are alive, all the trash mobs are back and we have to start all over again.  For example in The Temple of Ahn'Qiraj (home to the Twin Emperors) then there is only one way through the instance.  We have to kill the Prophet Skeram in order to access the passageway that leads to Battleguard Sartura.  We have to kill Sartura in order to get to the tunnel that leads to Fankriss the Unyielding and he is blocking the tunnel we need to go down to reach Princess Huhuran.  Huhu's room has an exit that leads to the Twin Emperors room and there is a door in the side wall there that opens once you have killed them, that door leads to C'Thun, the final and most dangerous boss in AQ40.

Molten Core: Only Lucifron and Magmadar can be killed 'out of order', but due to their geographical location within the instance they are always done first.  Thereafter there is a set order in which to kill the 10 Molten Core bosses.

Blackwing Lair:  There is zero choice here as there is only one route.  Bosses are always killed in the same order.

The Temple of Ahn'Qiraj: There is zero choice here as there is only one route.  However there are two additional and optional bosses in the instance that can be accessed after the second & third bosses have been killed.

Naxxramas: The instance is sectioned into different Wings which you can clear in any order you like before progressing to the end bosses.

Most other instances are the same in this respect, you have to kill a particular boss in order to access the next boss.  Blizzard design the instances to allow you to gradually build your expertise and learn the new skills needed to defeat later bosses.  With each boss they increase the difficulty of the encounter so you learn the basics on the early bosses, then gradually fine tune things as you get deeper into the instance until when you reach the Twins or C'Thun for example you need to be absolutely on top of every aspect of the encounter.

AQ40 for example is largely about teaching the 40 person raid group to work in a number of smaller units (each with their own role), but with a coordination in timing and location.  Like a well choreagraphed fight scene in a movie, each person or gorup has a specific role to play and every single raid member has to be at the right place at the right time and do the right thing in order to defeat the boss.  The fun thing is that no single boss encounter fight is ever exactly the same as the previous one, so you learn to adapt and be sufficiently flexible in your tactics to cope with variations in the fight environment or dynamics, the death of a raid member at an unexpected time (ie someone has to then pick up their role in the fight in addition to their own etc).  Finally, the classes in the raid change each tiem you raid (some people turn up, others are off sick etc), so youhave to learn to do the fights with differing skills within the raid: more or less priests, fewer hunters, an excess of mages, only 4 druids instead of the normal 5 etc etc.  Each of these variations has to be accounted for.  The variations are endless and fascinating - it is one of the key reasons I raid, to see the 40 individuals come together as a team and learn to defeat bosses with less than ideal class balances within the raid group, seeing them learn to work as a team and adapt to changing circumstances.  Awesome fun!

I hope this explains it a little better for you.

In an effort to move on to AQ40 to kill the Twin Emperors, SOG RG1 tonight sped through BWL and cleared all bosses in a stunning and new server record of:

2hrs 6 mins 51 secs.

SOG now hold the server speed records for both Molten Core & Blackwing Lair!

TL.

Edit: We got the Twins down to 27% so far.......

Great job all! And I heard some Paladins in the Paladin channel that would like to do both MC and BWL speed one night ;)
