Anyone know anything about TV's?

I'm thinking of getting a big 'un for the world cup. LCD, poss dig tuner, bigger then the existing 32 wide that I've got now. HD ready.....cheaper the better, but not scrimping on the quality...

any ideas?

Liberator recently bought a 40" one that he seems to spend all his time watching.
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

the pub next door has just bought a projector type thing with a roll down screen for £1200ish...seemed quite a good deal to me versus plasma/lcd giants.

the installer left some cards if you're interested 8)

HD and bigger than a 32" wide!? you are looking at not a little bit of cash for a good tv in that sort of arena... We have a Toshiba 27" ws that has a resolution of 1280x720 or 768 or something like that, loads of inputs including DVI, VGA and HDMI. imho - when you are already spending a decent wad of cash on a tv be very wary of the cheaper ones. If the cheap one is a grand and the other ones are like 2 grand you want to find out why..."HD" is used far too loosely in the retail market. Make sure you look for reviews! ;)

bunch of big HD LCD tv's on scan this weekend...

MAD_ness

When I was looking at 42" plasma's....the name SAMSUNG came up as being one of the best quality for the money..

The fact I got a PHILLIPS was purely down to the deal I got with it ...
I really was not born to work ALL my life !!!!!

Stryker

Until LCD prices crash owing to this long promised disposable bio based construction I opted for a projector.

Get a sanyo z4.  Buy carefully you can get all you need inc screen for about £1200.... and end up with a HD 96" screen for yer trouble  :)

Yup, mines a 40" Samsung HD LCD for just short of £1200 delivered.

Haven't got any HDMI kit to plug into it yet, but the quality of standard TV is excellent and the DNIe processor filters out all the crap and sharpens up the colours while making the black, well.. err... black.

The speakers are under the screen which means it takes up less width than the 37" ones with side speakers.

Apparently the 37" ones on ARIA and in MAKRO have the LG/Philips screens in them, which are supposed to be quite good, I was looking at those before I was pointed at mine on a staff discount web site. They were selling for £1600 on other sites at the time.

I was still watching an old Sony 29" 4:3, which is why I upgraded.

The trouble now is that I have to keep rewinding DVD's so I can see what was happening on the other side of the screen to the one I was watching.

I recon I'm gonna have to get a neck brace after watching the world cup.

StrontiumDog

I recently bought a 43" Samsung HD ready rear projection tv for just over £600 from Curry's.

Would have been more but I blagged some more discount off it....nice tv it is too :)
