The gear knob came from autocare, not much modification required, i always felt the standard g25 gear knob felt to small and looked a bit plastic compared to the rest of the unit.

i just need to get a couple of wheel buttons that will fit the 2 holes on the momo wheel as the standard g25 buttons are too large.

I've been trying (at variable degrees of success. :P) to use heel&toe ever since I got my G25. I found this to be nearly impossible with the stock pedals, so I've tried several modifications. I just thought I'd share my experiences with my latest G25 pedal mod.

A few weeks ago I moved the gas pedal a little closer to the brake, and elevated the brake pedal using washers. (the nixim mod is of course still installed) I've now become fully accustomed to it, and I have to say it is miles better this way!! Heel&toe is much easier now, because when I depress the brake my foot is almost precisely level with the gas pedal, so I just have to twist my ankle slightly to heel&toe. Since this makes the heel&toe motion less "violent" than it used to it even allows me to drive wearing socks rather than shoes, which also improves my "feel" a lot. (I used to drive wearing some thick-soled moccasins which made it pretty hard I think) Threshold braking a breeze now, and I can maintain a set brake pressure while heel&toeing, so that I don't lock my wheels. :yahoo:

Here's a few pictures:
The block I used to move the gas pedal:

Each of the three mods are pretty good alone (washers + nixim + moved pedals) but together they really shine. So if you've got a G25 and are less than satisfied with the pedals I suggest you consider this. They're all completely reversible, and only the nixim mod will void your warranty.

My motto is: if you ain't got no money, be creative with what you've got. :D

Excellent job! I do like to see innovative work-arounds. :)

Well at least it scores pretty well on the "added immersion pr £ invested and minute-spent-making-it" scale. :D

I'll give it a go.
First step: lower the throttle or raise brake pedal, because heel and toe is a pain at the moment.
Brake force seems appropriate the way I use the set (socks, carpet and if I brake too hard my chair slides back, so here is threshold braking :))
I even have to increase brake force in my sets because I can not reach 100% braking easily with this config...

Second step should be bringing throttle closer to the brake, because the gap is too wide for my small feet.
Thanks for the links and info.

You're welcome! :) Just ask if you have any questions.

How many washers you add is up to you, of course, depending on how much you want to lift the brake pedal. But you shouldn't buy longer screws than you think you'll use, because if they're too long they'll come in conflict with the red "spring casing" beneath the pedal. Oh, and be sure to get countersunk screws! (type E in this picture)

Good luck!

I was thinking of removing the plastic spacer under the throttle first - it seems doable. Have you tried that?

Doorman

You don't often get a good screw on this forum! :norty:

No I haven't tried that, but I fear that the screw will come into conflict with the red plastic cylinder.. worth a shot, though!

Are you able to get me the length of these M4 screws? I'm at work (hehe) 70km (15 of which are littered with snow and I have summer tyres on...) from the wheel, but here there is a huge workshop and I may get my hand on some M4s (although anything under 8 is rare here).

Thanks

The ones I use are 40 mm long. I think that's just fine, but you might want to try some shorter ones (like 35 or something). That's just personal preference, though. If you're in doubt you might pick up two of each. :)

I have to confess: I have been to http://www.sim-gear.com/794354.html and pressed that orange button below the Black anodized thing. I'm gonna fly with that turbo stick! It's gonna make me an über alien for sure. :yahoo:
