F YOU remember Commodore 64 that means you are not a teenager any more.
We certainly spent a piece of our life playing with that machine in the dawn of PC gaming.

Now, the Commodore brand sits on a range of high-end PCs equipped with Nvidia's 7950 GX2 card and an AMD FX 60. Commodore is now a Dutch company and is testing the waters to see is there a market for such a PC with this legendary brand on it.

The company picked a nice looking case packed some high-end hardware to beef up ye olde Commodore logo.

We we're able to try out the the old games on the beast

only if they make a remake of the exploding fist. and boulderdash. and impossible mission. and aztec challenge. and pitstip. and ...

Liberator

If I remember rightly, it was the U.S. side of Commodore that caused the company to collapse and it dragged the European side down with it but didn't kill it off completely.

The Germans bought the Amiga brand name and continued to produce higher spec Amiga's.

And I think I remember Tandy having a few Commodore PC's in back in the old 80386 days. The brand has always been kept alive and resurfaces every few years.

Thats if I do remember right and it wasn't just a boring dream!

I spent hours on my C64. My friend and I even set up our own BBS.. Those were the days.

Some games just fit consoles better - for example Bard's Tale and Splinter Cell. Some games are available only on consoles - for example  Metal gear 3 (which is real good).

But anyhow, me and my partner are seriously considering renting another room for our office, just to install my partner's old (but functioning) C64... I wonder what the clients would think of it though...

update:

Commodore, after going missing from the PC dictionary in the nineties, is perched for a comeback. After the rights to use the Commodore name, previously associated with Amiga and all that entails, have been picked up by a Dutch company in a deal estimated to be around $ 32 million, has decided to use the Commodore name for a new range of gaming PCs, ranging through the whole spectrum from run-of-the-mill desktops to veritable gaming uber powerhouses.

The Commodore Cg (entry level), Cgs, Cgx and Cxx (highest end) are poised to be officially unveiled at CeBit 2007 in Germany on March 15th, allegedly allowing for custom cases with personalised LED lights (modders queue up). You will be able to choose your own personalized art and LED when you order your rig. Windows Vista 64 bit and Direct X10 are standard on all rigs.

rig setup:

- Intel CoreT2 Extreme quad-core processor
- Asus P5N32-E nForce 680i SLI motherboard
- Two 150 GB 10,000 RPM SATA drives in RAID 0, with spare 500GB 7,200 RPM SATA drive
- 4GB (2 x 2048) Corsair Dominator memory at 1066 MHz
- Two nVidia 8800 GTX video cards
- Creative Labs X-Fi sound card
- Windows Vista Ultimate

if they do it right it'll be like Falcon Northwest (//www.falcon-nw.com) but available in Europe. I've always wanted a custom Falcon NW system, just becuase the case paint jobs are sooo fine, but they don't ship outside the US.
