Don't know what all the keys are doing yet, but boy this is addictive. I guess I've missed a lot by not joining the BF2 fest...

2. How do you find and use grenades?

Played the demo with the OBC-lads at the LAN, seemed really cool and especially the Mechs! Hoovertanks aswell.
 
@ Le Rouge (did you play BF2 or BF2142???): I think you mean the supplycrates dropping from the sky?
If you stand next to them and your short on ammo, they automaticly get full again (takes a few seconds and you hear a clicking sound). Also the small resupply packages do the same.
You can select the grenades through 1-5 keys depending on your kit. I don't think BF2142 has grenades though (I only played that 15 minutes and was playing with the big guns).

I mean 2142. I think it resembles UT2004, if anyone played it, especially the "nods" game play.
 
I never took the time to play BF2 (ashamed of that), as I thought it won't run on my machine. Anyhow, I got that supply thing, thanks. I still have some problems to understand:
1. How do you speak to team mates? (besides the 'q' option)
2. How do you choose to which team you belong? (they put me once in this "eastern" front and all I could hear was russian, which I am not fluent at...

1)Taking to your teamm8s, I think that would be v or b. One of them is to talk as SquadLeader to your Commander and the other one is to your teamm8s and Squadleader. Do make sure you're actually in a team then btw! (Press enter and join a squad).
 
2)In your optionsmenu you can select your language as in speaking language English only. Have a look around the options...

downloaded and installed but get error message "application failed to start because d3dx9_29.dll not found, try re-installing"
I've re-installed twice now with no joy:sad:
gonna try 1 more time before I uninstall and re-download
btw my 1st download was incomplete and wouldn't even start to install<_<

edit: at beginning of install I get "MD5Error: C:\Program files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield2142\demo\support\readme.txt"

Not sure what happend here but:
You need an extra file Blunt. A file called d3dx9. Bison had it at the LAN and if I didn't install that it wouldn't work.
I'll be on MSN this evening shortly so you might want to catch me there so I can send you the file.

I think you're going to like it.
I only played it 15 minutes so far and was checking out some stuff but I', definatly going to buy it. A tip I got from Bison: Watch the intro movie! Loads of tips in there!

how do I choose which FACTION to join?
 
@Blunt: had the same problem; I DLed te latest (very recent) DX9 package. Anyhow, glad it worked for you, and now, on which server do we meet?
