Would like TL and anyone else who has some ideas to this post in details on how you would like it to behave and look,
maybe even make some pics in photoshop or something like that, and ill see what i can do.

TL you talked about charlie having a absence system on the meeting tonight that worked in a way you would like to see this work,
have that been developed in-house or is it a package you downloaded from somewhere, and if so, where from?

And if its developed in-house id like to take a look at the source.

I've sent a PM to Oldie last night asking if he would mind tweaking it for us or passing the code to you to play with, I am awaiting his response.

In the mean time here is the link to the dMw Availability website:

http://87.240.138.20/avail/

The website is essentially a booking system but it does not have an 'approved' status, it is simply a list of those who will be available, those who might be and those who are not going to be available.

The system also provides us with some basic info (eg some CS match stats not relevant to SOG).

The website also stores some contact info for people.  All dMw folks put their telephone numbers and other contact info on the site so that if someone is needed in an emergency to make up numbers for the team we then have some way of contacting them.  This would be a nice facility but I am not convinced that all in SOG woudl be happy to do the same!

The system should show raid events or a raid calendar - noting the days we are raiding - a destination for the raid is nto necessary but might be nice to show.

Once you select a raid I would see something like the class table on the 'Fancy stats' page of the DKP site, but we two rows to accommodate both raid groups:

QuoteRaid Group 1:
Warlocks  Paladins  Mages  Hunters  Rogues  Druids  Warriors  Priests

Raid Group 2:
Warlocks  Paladins  Mages  Hunters  Rogues  Druids  Warriors  Priests
Under each class column would be a list of all members of that class for that raid group.

By default the system would show a green background to each member name - green would indicate they are going to be available and there for the raid.

A member would then be able to log in to the website and say either that they were going to be unavailable or a possible.

Unavailables get their background coloured Red,

Possibles (including those who think they will be late or those who might need to leave early) get an Amber background.

The table would then sort into Green at top, Amber underneath and then Red at bottom.  This allows a simple 'traffic light' at-a-glance check of availability for each class and warns us where we think we will have problems.

That's kind of what I had in mind.  HTH.

Just a quick thought, it might be worth changing the default to 'unavailable'.  This would reward those who updated the info as they would get the places in the raid, whereas those who didn't bother would be shown as unavilable and have no argument about not getting a place.  It would also stop false positives on the 'available' list through people getting that as a default.

ok, ill be waiting for that source then.

If we change the default to unavailable we might as well use a signup system, it works the same way like that would.
And there are complete packages out there thats easy to install if we go with a signup system. I could have one of those packages running by tonight.

The trouble is that it does not show us the available class balance and I really do not want to get into the business of doing a sign up for each raid as it requires us to take responsibility for kicking people or deciding who should miss out.  It's much easier just getting the class to decide themselves whose turn it is to step down for the raid.

The key thing is the display of available raiders - that's the bit that might help - and we can then get members to post there in advance and plan accordingly.
