Information request: TBC beta

To all members of SOG that play in the beta,
 
The officers currently do not have as much info as they would like about TBC and then specificly on raiding and leveling. This topic can be used to bring information about these topics to the attention of the officers to make sure that we, as officers, make the best informed decission.
 
Questions we would especialy like to see awnserd are:

• Are there raid instances planned to ship with TBC for level 60-70 (as in, doable by a leveling raid group).
• What kind of time frame are you looking at to get from level 60 to 70.
• And everything else that TBC beta players might feel is important.

Non beta players can offcourse post info they find on sites, please keep this topic clean, and on topic.

I might be wrong but I think I've red somewhere that Xp needed to lvl from 60 to 70 is lot less in Beta than it will be in live, this to make the process faster and allow players to test most of the content.

When I leveled up to 60, I think I had almost 20 days of playtime when I dingeg, so you can figure that I did it the slow way.  I've heard that on average, one should need about the same time to get from 60 to 70, as one did from 1 to 60, and if you calculate with a bit increased speed due to experience, I would say that I'd use somewhere around 10 to 15 (probably in the upper half of that interval) on my leveling.
The only thing I do know, is that I will not go for any kind of power leveling.  I look forward to do quests again, and I'll take my time to enjoy the new and continued storylines, explore new land and all that stuff

I didn't powerlevel i had 12 days played. I used a guide but i dont class this as power leveling it just helped me to be in the correct areas for my level and saved a lot of time killing completly the wrong thing for quests!

totally offtopic but..

it aint how fast you lvl... its how much Fun you get while doing it..

so if for a normal rg1 it takes 10-15 days(played), and for you it takes 20-30(played).. well so what?

Well, I got Umbra to level 62 in about 8 hours of playing, someone said that the necessary xp is reduced for the beta, I haven't heard this at all, and the xp for lvl 61 was about 516k xp, which is kinda inline with the increases so far.
i need 614k for lvl 63.

the general consensus in my guild of about 400 people is that it can be done in 2 weeks of playing but they are on every day really.

so far with rested bonus, a typical mob kill of one-two levels higher  than me gives 1000 to 1300 xp, and quests i'm soloing are 10k to 13k xp, it was alot faster to get 61 than to get 60 but that is probably helped by the nice gear I have.

instances start with hellfire citadel / ramparts or whatever it's called and one other for lvl 60 ppl, 5 man instances, I think the majority of them are in and planned for release but there are a few really buggy ones.

I haven't seen any 25man lvl 60 instances in there but I haven't looked too hard.

To those whining about levelling, blizzard have quoted that the point is to enjoy yourself and never to have to grind in order to level, if you do they want to change it, questing *is* enough to level you, and the quests are fun and interesting.

There are enough solo-able quests in the first zone to get to 62, and about 64 in the second zone etc.

additionally i recommend enchanters getting some arcane crystals, since these break to arcane dust used for the nice new enchants
also, get a few stacks of runecloth to level your first aid to about 330 or so to get netherweave bandages, (heals for 2800) then get to 360 for heavy netherweave (heals for 3400)

I had 12 days /played on my first char to 60 (though admittedly I had had one to 44 before that, but i got bored of playing a pally). I didn't powerlevel at all, or use any guides apart from the Blizzard 'this area is generally meant for this level range' page. I largely bimbled around doing quests and having fun.

regarding arcane crystals. these now drop from khorium and an other mineral vein which you can find in the 1st zone, so they aint so rare anymore

Found this and hope it gives some directions..

There will be around 15 5 man instances in xpack when it launches.. Ranged from lvl 60 to 70. All those instances willl be doable in heroic mode (enhanced loot drops) which will up encounters to lvl 70 difficulty. Atm (in beta) u have to be revered (or higher) with appropriate group to be able to aquire heroic mode key. Is not yet clear if only one player in gruop will have to be revered or all.


Raid instances available (and planned) in xpack. All lvl 70. All on week timer.

Karazhan - 10 Man (last home for last Medivh, last Guardian).. 2 bosses in it drop T4 items, last boss was not killed in beta yet, so is not clear if he drops T4 or not. Very long instance.
Gruul's Lair - 25 man.. short instance with 2 major fights, bosses in those 2 fights drop T4 items. T4 and T5 sets are made from 5 items, not 8 like sets in game now.
Magtheridon's Lair - 25 Man.. short Onyxia-like instance. Boss not killed yet. Unclear if it drops T5 or T4.
Serpentshrine Cavern - 25 Man
Black Temple - 25 man (Will be patched in)
Zul'Aman - Rumor is 10 Man (Will be patched in)


All info in this thread can be useless as things in beta are still changing a lot so take it with some reserve. Will add info with time.

yeh arcane crystals drop from adamantite and khorium but you won't be getting ability to mine these fast, i'm on 326 mining (330 or 335 needed for adamantite) and im lvl 62 already.
