dontpannic

Hi Guys,

Nick here. The admins may remember me from about 10 minutes ago. I'd just like to discuss a ban that me and a friend recieved from your server.

I race as dontpannic, and today I made a mistake. I slowed down to let a member of DMR through, and didn't see where the corner was, so I skidded off onto the dust. Kept skidding with my finger quite firmly on the brake button and attempted to steer it away from the track (which was approaching rather quickly).

There are two reasons about this:

Firstly, this was my first race using the Keyboard. It seems that Vista 64 doesn't support my wheel (Logitech Momo) and so I was not used to the controls I was using.

Secondly I am used to racing the FXO GTR on the Kyoto "Ring" circuit, so failed to see the corner correctly, this is the main reason behind the accident between myself and one of the admins (Doorman).

Oldbloke found it suitable to ban me. OK, what I did was wrong, and I understand the zero tolerance rule, but surely for a first mistake a ban of 999 days is a little harsh? I would have understood with a kick or a warning, but a ban for that period is a little on the unfair side!

I then went onto my friends PC, who races under "Hammond100", to explain the situation, and the reasons stated above - AT NO POINT did hammond100 endanger the race of other people, but got the same ban period as me, 999 days. Again, I fail to see the reasoning behind this.

Can this situation be resolved as soon as possible? I've been an avid racer on Live For Speed since 2002, and I think that that proves the point that I am not a wrecker. Why would I pay £24 to ruin races? It's an unfair activity, and one I'm strongly against.

I've only been banned once from a Live for speed server, 2 years ago, and that was a case of mistaken identity. DeadMenRacing was a regular server that I used while S1 was the latest version, and it was a pleasure to race there.

Can an admin please contact me as a matter of urgency, as I would like to resolve this in a peaceful and quick manner.

Many thanks,
Nick (dontpannic)

Nick,

Firstly thank you for a mature and reasoned approach. As I'm not one of the main racing admins and additionally was not present then it is difficult to comment. However, what I can say is that I am sure one of the racing admins will contact you shortly to try to sort this out - I have sent them a PM to draw their attention to this post in case it is missed - we are a busy forum.

Again, thank you for a sensible, restrained post.
