I was just making the point that there are alternatives.

As an alternative to struggling with any piece of software that's causing problems looking at another one is always an option.

I can't afford MS Office in a million years but need a document writer and  spreadsheet program that can create and work with MS format docs (.doc & .xls). So Open Office was a natural choice for me and works very well.

Experience tells me that your problem may well be something you can turn off in an options menue, but not why it's started all of a sudden. What version of Office is it and have you done any Windows updates over the Net or any recent software installs :?:

It's worse. We at BOC Gases (big global corporation) still use Windows 95 on some PC's and laptops.

A good working buddy of mine, who you all know and love as Chimpy, has Windows 95 8O  Why  :?:  Because BOC does not have a budget to buy anymore laptops, PC's or software licences, so we're all stuck with what we've got, and the poor Chimpboy's got Windows 95.

That's the same BOC what made about half a billion quid net profit last year. Makes ya weep

Not half as much as Microsloath whose sales figures suffered as a result.
