Doesn't Ventrilo still only five us 6 slots per side?

If so, how is it better than the ingame comms?

The Big Server is only 12 slot.

We do have a TS server running. Maybe we should try that for next week.

BIG server is currently 12 slot - can easily be 24 if that helps. Just give me one day notice.

Teamspeak sucks, that's why its free.

Armitage

If you make it 24 slot and don't mind it being invaded on a monday night. It would be great.:yahoo:

It's not that simple on a public server. Assume we all decide to use Ventrilo. Depending on which side you're on will determine which channel to use. We all pile into the correct channel and poor old guest player on our squad wonders why no one is talking. So you configure a button for Ventrilo talk and one for squad talk - and remember to press the right one. Then someone says to even the teams ...

I was thinking we would put the vent server info on the start up screen and also spam the info with BF2CC, or you're right, Joe public would think we were very antisocial

big-paddy

Well depends on how you want to play. I quite like being in the same channel with small numbers. it allows one to extract the necessary p*** er pride after a kniving etc.

The other problem I see with ingame comms is communication between squads. Even on the same side if more than six people join some lose out.

If however you feel that you need separate team channels in vent then ok.

Using ingame and ventrilo comms is not a problem as OB says its just two keys. Ingame gives 'secret' channel. I dont have a problem with public access, but I experience shows that they wont use it anyway. Ingame for visitors, vent for the gang.

What you should know is the BIG guys always have a vent channel running even at the LAN. Even on opposite sides, one needs to brag somewhere! We dont tell on our sides anything, but it is great to congratulate, I think that is the word, a colleague on killing you.

I would suggest just try it. BIG have had a lot of experience of using vent and ingame and we like it. it may not be for you, or it may. Until you give it a go i would reserve judgement.

Should just make it clear I am in no way connected with the company :)

  • I hate the way you don't get to say 'bye' properly with BF2 when a map ends. Still there has to be time to check the silly stats thingy
But wouldn't that require me 'multitasking'? Can we blokes do that?

;)

merdok

hehe, I can't actually remember the last time we used vent for tactics.

Actually I can't remember the last time we used tactics. :roflmao:

P.S. Sorry for missing the monday game, I had loads of work to do.

On the Ventrillo/comms issue ...

For my part it is just a simple case of me remembering to get my lazy ass to work out which system you are using and remembering which is the right key to press.

When in Rome do as the Romans do - that's what I say.

You could always set the same key for vent as for squad speak.

Sorry I couldn't make it either this monday.

Didn't we try that once and it screwed everything? (Feedback and loads of other problems.)
