BB - What about the 'Audio Acceleration' option?

Tried it, no joy. I had a look at creative's forums and they suggest that there are issues between the audigy and non-ACPI cards in XP. My NIC was a 3com 905B-TX which is seemingly not ACPI compliant. I swapped it for a Compaq NC3123 and lo and behold, nothing changed.

I uninstalled the audigy drivers, pulled the card, rebooted, shut down, replaced the card and reinstalled the drivers, same shit!

In desparation I downloaded the driver update on the website and applied that. It is actually older than the drivers I have on CD but guess what, IT WORKED!!!!!!!

Thanks to all of you who have given suggestions and especially to those of you who have had to put up with half my conversation (although some may say that you have been lucky).

Cheers and see you on homer

Hey BB. You have exactly the same symptoms on your comms as described by Tutonic. So:

By looking at your ping I'm assuming you're on Broadband so make sure you have the following:

rate 20000
cl_rate 20000
cl_updaterate 40
cl_cmdrate 40

Well the maximum number for rate is 9999 ... so I really don't know what 20000 will do for ya. ;)

That's what I thought. Then I read the Summerblue article and, basically, took their advice.

http://www.summerblue.net/games/cs_report/...ion_config.html

Quote... a broadband connection will always have more bandwidth available than the server can provide. As such, rate and cl_rate both need to be set to their maximum values so that the client is using all available bandwidth.

The maximum value for both rate and cl_rate is 20,000.

which is where I got my info too. Seems to work to be honest. One of the many articles goes as far as to say the cl_rate was replaced by rate and that setting cl_rate was pointless. Cannot remember which article though as i read everything I could find to try and fix this :-)
