It had to be the chip.......its just my luck......i blame it all on myself for the loosing streek i have at the moment ......if my looser streek carrys on ill gunna go in the bath with vodka razor blades and a toster......the only thing that will save me is you people sorting it....somthing to live for and all that.......

Also a big apple Thumbs Up to TeaLeaf who seems to spend his life sending components back

Hey.. I have an Athlon 1.133 CPU that's not being used at the moment. I'd be willing to loan it to you guys for about 3-6 months if it would help at all..

PM me if you need it and we can sort out details..

Thanks for the offer, but the existing cpu works fine (if a little slowly) and will be replaced by the new P4 2.0Ghz when it is back from the retailer (who is checking that the new CPU is not a dud).  I figure we can survive until then....

hehehe, AMD are fine for home computers, but in a tightly packed server room where air-con is sucking juice like you suck water with a 6 star hangover, the last thing you need is a 150W heater in the rack!  :roll:

we had a CPU fry itself.  It were only a Duron 800ish.  Problem was it were in a 1U case (1.75 inches high).  Doggers had a theory.  The sticky label on the cpu fan peeled off and jammed against the case lid (only about 3mm clearance).  The fan stopped and the CPU fried....
