Can't say I'd noticed it.. were you playing an ad hoc game by any chance?

Best stick to dedicated servers really, few people have connections or PCs good enough to host and play games at the same time.  I was surprised that the interface for L4D is so geared towards listen servers (no server browser that I can see?).

One of the six recent server updates was supposed to have fixed that :sideways:

connected to a friends computer in america on saturday, and i had ping of about 80, at the start of the 2nd level there was a lot of lag. Last night did the same again but because if the update there was no lag, and hes not running a powerful rig either, so lan wise this shoudnt need a powerful rig, internet wise it will all be down to the host connection as usual

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

Game is unlocked on Steam and I have been playing it. :D

Haven't played past the demo part yet although I did notice the second map from the demo has been extended a bit in the full game.  All in all it's very good and Versus mode (where you can play as infected) is superb - I think it takes even more teamwork to play well as infected than as the survivors, you generally still die in a couple of hits so you need to coordinate your attacks to pick off the weak survivors.  There's a great sense of satisfaction when you pin two survivors with hunters and grab another with a smoker, while a boomer vomits on them all. :)

Really does sound good (checks back in thread to see how much it costs)

Ok, just finished Episode 1: No Mercy.  Without giving anything away, I can safely say that playing through the finale as a team will be great fun in coop mode, and completely insane in versus mode. :D

It's just a shame that the bots are not very good - tactics like closing doors to stop zombies rushing from behind don't work because the stupid bots keep opening them.  In the end I had to play the last level of Episode 1 on normal ( I'd done the rest on advanced) because the finale requires 4 fully participating team members, and the bots just don't cut it.

On the whole though, five stars so far. :)

So is it still 4 versus a hoard of zombies or can we do 4 on 4?

I went to amazon prime so should have it for 21st.

Basically in Versus mode you have 8 players (4 Survivors and 4 Infected).  The Survivors have to complete the level as normal, the Infected have to stop them.  Infected players spawn as 'special' infected (Boomers, Smokers and Hunters) and can choose to spawn wherever they want, except that they can't spawn too close to or within sight of the survivors.  'Normal' infected are controlled by the AI as normal.  At certain points on each level a random infected player is chosen to become a Tank. Tanks are like -> :taz:.

Once all the Survivors have either escaped or been incapacitated/killed, the round ends, Survivors get a score based on how many people survived, damage done, and difficulty level, then the teams swap and the level is played again. After both teams have played as survivors, it moves on to the next level.

Also if anyone was missing the server browser as much as me (god knows why Valve removed it from the menu options) you can bind a key to 'openserverbrowser' to get it back.  At this time it's been the only way I've been able to get a game with no lag.  Are we going to have a dMw L4D server?

This is still the demo server I think, doesn't work with full game.
