I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.

But never forget how much we value the armed services. yeah, right!

Don't know how that honours system works over there, seems to be a little hit n miss? A couple of years ago an Irish guy was given a Knighthood, (Tony O'Reilly, former Irish International Rugby player, now President of Independent News & Media who are owners, I think, of the Independent, formerly CEO of Heinz Foods Inc.), who is, in the eyes of most non corporate Irish people, a Class 1 AH ( thats short for something I'm not allowed to say here).

To the point: How many British soldiers, killed or wounded in Afghanistan, 1st Gulf War, Iraq, Falklands and dare I mention it, Northern Ireland, have gotten Knighthoods, MBE's, CBE's, whatever?

Well, I've being going through the list for 2007, none are dead, a few wounded, lowest rank (and I may stand corrected in this), seems to be WO, most seem to be General, Admirals, of that ilk.

As far as I'm concerned, giving a Knighthood or similar to Media moguls, showbiz people, bleedin heart footballers, bike riders, shot putters, boxers, etc., does an extreme injustice to the men & women of your armed forces who make the ultimate sarcrifice of their lives and limbs for your Government.

Honours .........BS, wear em with a red face...............

Honours me Bollix.........BS, wear em with a red face...............go to China, plunder a few trinkets, this is worth more than an arm, a leg, an unrecognisably burned body or face or worse, I rest my case................

Point well put albeit with typical Irish fervour. :) I for one, agree with you.
