I'm doing 1.34's if that's any good as a reference for you.

talking of which....   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35wT4FDcEco&fmt=22

..and to anyone that hasn't raced because of the previous problems....  It seems to be fine now :)

Real shame there was a low turnout this week as Silverstone is somewhere you can really race these cars :)

Quote from: Gnomie;267980I can only speak for myself, but I must admit that I've been putting nKP on hold until the multiplayer issues have been sorted. Just couldn't be arsed to spend a lot of time practicing for an event only to get discoed after like 5 laps.. However, now that the server problems seem to be a thing of the past, I'll be there on Wednesdays whenever I can make it! :) Starting next week.

Cya!

Sorry for letting you down, NKP really is something - full mode does bring immersion, and the inadequacy of communication means with other drivers / pits makes if feel all lonely in the car as it should be.
My sim-racing time is close to 2hours / week at best these days, so training / practice and setup tweaking is going nowhere.
It feels that I would need to invest more time in this sim to get something of it, and I do not have this time at the moment, so LFS does the job.
If time comes by I'll get back in and claim that last place on the grid that has my name on it :)

You and indeed anyone here, has no need to apologise. We all play the games we want to play. I was mainly disappointed in the nKPro community in general. There are hundreds of them but they're all invisible. Then they complain 'there's never anybody on line' Hey ho! :)

One of the main problems with the netKar community is its too fragmented.  It's a real shame ( and i never thought i'd hear myself saying this :p ) that RSC has been closed.   Things were really picking up there in the netKar section, it was a positive atmosphere and lots of new people were there.  It was the main forum for netKar enthusiasts.

Now we are left with the Italians that stick to the DrivingItalia forum and organise their own events over there and the GPC crowd who tend to stick to preparing for/racing in GPC and nothing else.

If RSC were still up and you were promoting the DMR night's over there, i think there would be plenty of interest still.

If we can just get a couple of trouble free races in a row with a decent turnout, and everyone spams a few forums reporting how good the races have been, things could pick up.

What we need more than anything else is Kunos to release the next bloody patch!

Very well put. What is it with RSC? How hard can it to to run a forum?.....Smilo?.... Smilo?
I'm kidding, I'm kidding. :)

I will do some posts on dutch simracing forums to get some extra interest for the ‘All Comers League’... but by the way they opened up a league section at virtualr.net what could generate some extra attention.

Thanks for your input, it's appreciated. I had a good look round that site and saw only one mention of nKPro and that was for the Laguna Seca track release. I wonder if they don't like their sims to be too simulatory :norty: Still maybe we can prise some away from Need for Speed eh? :D I'm going to have to make the rounds and delete the 'league' part of our Wednesday nights.

I've edited the GPChampionships forum. Looks a little better I think

Damn didnt realise you guys were racing last week.  I thought it was a week off for some reason- must have been XLR8 talking about being on holiday- I'm pretty fast on silverstone too:doh:

Well I'll definately be racing tomorrow- not been on the sims for a bit but i have done a couple of Autosolos in the meantime so hopefully real life will transfer over.  Not tried Laguna with NKP but I have a thing for that track- always loved it and done well in rFactor etc, so it should be interesting.

Lets just hope my 60k ping doesn't show up with me :crying:  As I say if its causing problems i'll leave no probs.  I'll have a little fiddle with all the cables etc to make sure its not a hardware fault etc.  did anyone get to the bottom of why it only shows 60k+ when im stationary in the pits?

Cheers Pete

Don't fret. A simple reconnect does it. The stationary in pits thing was a bit of a red herring. See ya tomorrow. :)

Sad to say, this 'league' has been a shambles. :crying: Not completely, there have been a few good moments, but on the whole, a shambles.
It seems to me the netKar Pro is good for organised events such as GPChampionships league but even they have the same problems, to a degree, that we have had. Mostly connection/lag issues. This has sounded the death knell of our 'long' races. The insecurities engendered are too great for my 'dicky tickaire'.

Given that nKPers need 'organising', that is to say a time and place to be on a regular basis, rather than searching for non-existant pick up races, I propose making the Wednesday night event a simpler, quicker format.

As mentioned elsewhere in this forum it'll go like this:

1: Wednesday evening 7.30 proper time the server will be started.

2: There will be a 600 second (10 minute) wait time during which you can practice, change stuff or whatever takes your fancy.

3: There will be no lap times recorded during this time so the grid for the first race will be randomly selected.

4: If you're in the garage you get the 'Go to grid' sign. If you're out on track, 30 seconds before the off you get dumped on the grid automatically.

5: Race lenght? :g: Not too short and not so long as to strain nKP's memory! I'm thinking 10 -12 laps of Lastplace Lake. (open to suggestions)

6: At the end of that race there will be another 10 minute break.

7: The next race will start but with a
      reversed grid!

8: One last thing. To start off with, FULL MODE=0

Points from both races will be added together to give us a winner. :yahoo:

On the subject of points spread I am open to suggestions as well.

I'm now sitting staring at my monitor asking myself why am I bothering? The answer is simple. I really feel this sim is worth the trouble and I'd love to see it used more. It's basic downfall is that you can't jump on a server willy nilly as in LFS so you need an appointment. I/we want to provide that appointment.

WEDNESDAY 7.30!
