Attached is a screen shot of my router sttings. My feeling is that it is doing what I think you're trying to do but I could well be wrong. I hope you can make it out.

Yup, we are trying to do similar. I have 2 accounts with DynDNS (1 static and 1 dynamic - the static one gives me long term stability but the dynamic one gives me quick updates if my IP changes  - see, I can plan things out).

However, this time we are trying to get my client to update Stryker's DNS server rather than a "commercial" one (and thats not to say that Crosswired is not commercial but just that they do not really run in this market space). This will allow my blueball.deadmen.co.uk hostname to be updated dynamically rather than me having to email Stryker to update the DNS records every time BlueYonder decide my cable modem has a lease long enough :-(

Don't worry Ron, once Stryker and I suss this out we will happily charge you an exhorbitant consultancy fee to set you up with the same system ;-)

I don't know what the hell you're talking about but will my setup recognise when my IP changes and then do the decent thing?

You have account with DynDNS so as long as people go to doorman.gotdns.com then no matter what your IP is they will find you  :D

doorman, if you can 'bottle' blueball's evil techno powers you could have doorman.deadmen.co.uk pointing to your home server/pc whatever and that too would auto update should your ip change  :dribble:

For that matter I could host the dns for anyone's domain and leave them to keep it up to date to their requirments.

But only those I like.... which rules out most u orrible lot  :narnar:
