Quote from: Jim;270903is this happening tonight??? If so i gotta help TL out with something on WoW, but i'll see if i can talk myself outta it if i catch him (unless its not tonight)

Jim, the date was in the first post, 1st April, and your name is down for one of the teams!!!
If you can't make it due to other commitments please advise ASAP so someone, eg BBB?, could take your place.

Jewelz, this is only a one-off fun night thing. It might lead to greater things, like an L4D ladder, but it's just to gauge interest and try things out.
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Ok, explained on WoW section why i had to let TL down

Using a dog biscuit I have decided which teams play which side.

1st round:- Team Bridget II as Survivors and Pretenders as Infected

2nd round:- Team Bridget II as Survivors and Dream Team as Infected

3rd Round:- Dream Team as Survivors and Pretenders as Infected

Final will be the team with the highest point total to decide. If they tie then the dog biscuit comes out of my pocket again!

And now here are the results.

The pretenders never showed, null points.

This meant we were able to play a proper tournament type game, one level played twice with each team taking it in turns to start, i.e. four rounds.

Team Bridget II vs The Dream Team

The valiant defenders of Bridget's honour made a good game of it. Going for a rush style tactic on their first attempt. We thought they had us beat but the Dream Team rallied and came back strongly. Our crucial tonguing from the roof and the suicidal leg-breaker ripost by them meant it was all over bar the shouting. In the second round the Dream Team were doing well and we thought we were going to make it. But a well placed Boomer caused enough confusion so that a single swipe from their Tank sent a fork-lift into our midst and brought us all down.
Dream Team won that round, just. 118 to 83
Third round with the Dream Team starting was a close call. There were moments went it could have all been over and the relentless attacks were wearing us down. But we clung on tenaciously and tightened our formation. All four Survivors made it to the safehouse, a little worse for wear.
So it was all down to the fourth round and what Bridget's fun boy four could pull out of the bag!
Unfortunately they succumbed to an early Boomer which seriously weakend them and knocked their confidence. From that moment on they seemed to fall apart and lost all coherence as a fighting unit. We mercilessly whittled away at them and marvelled that they neglected to go for the T2 weapons, which we had found in the previous round so they knew they were there,
and that made it only a matter of time before it was all over. They made it as far as the sewer entrance but a combined Smoker/Hunter attack finished them off.
Dream Team won 1104 to 100

So the final score was Dream team 1222 against Team Bridget II 183. :yahoo:

Nice effort lads, maybe next time ?

Cracking game.

Quote from: Professional ResponseI thought we'd had it at one point, the forklift smash seemed to do the trick, very very close. The two occasions of leg break drops did the damage, but until that point it was a bit touch and go.
The suprise early rush had us arguing amongst ourselves and bickering like 2 stray cats over Sn00ks underwear.

Seriously well played.

Quote from: The Real BennyYou came, you valiantly tried and we sent you packing. Screaming like girls as we mercilessly took you apart. Young and eager was the problem, where us old hacks knew that a little solid knowledge would have your guts hanging from the rafters.

A crafty tonguing, some boomering and a right good seeing to sends you on your way. Don't have nightmares, do sleep well, you've been visited by...'The Admins'...

Now, get off our land.

Nice one gents, let's make it regular.

I'm still not sure how the points worked on that one, as average distance we made it further (Though I fear it was my fault for dying in the warehouse leaving my team to go on to the sewers without me).
Anyway, very nicely played. Especially well done for your bare take down on the witch on your second go as survivors. My attempt at burning her with a molotov and missing was far less glamourous.

Good games all round. I hope this becomes a regular thing.

Yes it was because we got more Survivors further that made the difference. You get points for distance, but it is multiplied by the number of players using an escalating scale. It highlights the fact that this is a team based game. So it's no point one player making it if the rest die.

Auto shotgun and just blast away at the body at very close range.

Ooo but then you neglected to go and pick up the T2 weapons right at the start of the level  :norty:

Yes, they did the 'rush' and paid for it.

Speaking if which, a rush is only any good if you know you've just killed off all the special infected, that you have a 20 second window before the next one arrives and that you can all run at the same speed, otherwise you will lose the man at the back!

or you get good weapons at the start

I challenge you to a re-match!

And this time Jewelz wont spawn too early as a boomer making the loudest bowel movements ever, I'll stop missing with 5 hunter pounces before I get clubbed then die, and we wont leave the decent weapones. Very big error which I blame Ghosty for entirely ;)

I died in the warehouse (about 10ft from your group died), and the rest died in the sewers. If it was purely distance wise all our team got atleast as far, and 3 made it further.
I suspect there is something in the scoring system that takes the average team distance when a team member dies and not the individual locations.
So if one person got all the way to the end and died in the saferoom when the rest of his team were 33% of the way, the average distance would be 50%, if his team then made it the rest of the way, rather than a score of 100% and a 3x multiplier it would be a 88%.
(I'm not sure this is right, it's only a guess - and not too important after we got owned on the second run.)
