Well, seeing as it arrives later today I guess now would be a good time to agree what our plans our to roll over to 1.6 on one or two servers.......?

I am not too sure we shoudl move over straight away, but does anyone else have any thoughts?

Changing MH first would be easiest imho. There the requirements are less hard in comparison to our matchserver and I think our members will have more understanding if everything doesn't run smooth directly.

One immediate problem as I see is the matches. We need to have a server that is configured the way we want (that works). Will CD work with 1.6? We don't know. There are other issues like the chat function that needs to be adressed.

With CS1.6 all get new IDs as WON is being dismantled. This in turn leads to updates on ED and ESL of our clan (when all have downloaded 1.6) but also GLJs subscription tool for our website. We should look how e.g ED handles this and what they suggest.

I think that if we keep baldric as is and update MH we have one 1.5 and one 1.6 server which makes us flexible for matches and such.

I'd second sadako as the pinicle of sensibility.

I'd also agree that we ought to sit back a little and see how the other poor saps handle this as in those who do this for a living.

My suggestion would be to not change anythign at all just yet.  Give it a deadline of say a week for everyone to have got the download and then make the changes to MH.  We will already by then no about any snags etc.

As for the match server we leave well alone until we know what is going to happen with the leagues etc.

Yeah a week to DL is wise considering that the whole CS community will be downloading furiously over the next few days.

Wise, did I call TL wise

However ...

If we were to change Baldric over to 1.6 asap then we could use it to make sure that we hit the ground running when 1.5 is pulled in two weeks time.

Having just played 1.6 on a new Steam 1.6 server I've lots of little things that need sorting now (buyscripts and mouse acceleration being the top two). We can, hopefully, each learn a little to share with the rest of the membership. We can play our bi-weekly matches on MH for two weeks surely?

I agree with OB. We should start the transition asap.

Regarding the buyscripts I think you will find the answers here:

Are the config and buyscript settings changing with Steam v1 Sadako or is our current config still fine?

It should be the same. You should also be able to get your friends list intact if you use the same login as 1.6beta *fingers crossed*

I'd like to give it a go as I'm slowly coming to grips with the black art that is *nix.
