Quote from: Exodus GuildThe rumors are indeed true. We have been suspended for 72 hours for:

Offense: Abuse of Game Mechanics
Details: Circumvention of normal combat mechanics to defeat the Yogg-Saron encounter inside the Ulduar raid instance.

In our many attempts at trying to figure out a way to defeat Yogg zero watcher, we found a way to use bugged game mechanics to make phase 3 easier in zero watcher then one watcher.

The bug is when someone is left inside the brain room of Yogg-Saron, they can still get aggro on the adds that spawn in phase 3. That means if you have someone getting healing aggro in the brain room, they will get aggro on the adds, which cause them to evade in place and allows for all of your raids dps to be focused on Yogg.

We discovered this mechanic on a wipe, and decided to see if we could actually get it to work. The first attempt after that wipe, we realized it worked, and went with it and killed it on that attempt. We also filed a formal bug report on Blizzard's website.

Yes, it is 100% our fault for using a bug on such a significant boss fight, however I would say there are some absolute factors to go off of here that kind of forced us into it. We wouldn't have had to use this technique to kill this encounter if it was actually killable to begin with, so please, Blizzard, make your encounters killable in the future. Lets take a moment to think about the other encounter that was deemed not killable mathematically in Ulduar.. Oh yeah 2min Hodir, I remember a certain guild killing it in this state by using an exploit.. they were not banned, any reason why Blizzard?

First off I just want to say, if I was given the chance to erase history and do it again I would without question do it. These last 72+ hours watching Ensidia cry "Exploit!" and bitch non-stop have been absolutely hilarious. You guys are like a lot of other little european babies, who lack sportsmanship. Pretty sure when you guys exploited your way through this instance and past instances, my guild didn't cry non-stop until you were banned. Pot calling the kettle black?

What about when you guys exploited Freya trash to kill Hodir? Not only that, but then you proceeded to e-mail your Blizzard contacts and had it hoxfixed before anyone even knew that you exploited it in this manner. This allowed for you to focus on more fights with your new 239 ilvl items that you got from exploited a kill, while everyone else was holding their dicks because you exploited and got the exploit fixed the same day.

Blizzard if you are going to pick sides, make it a little less obvious...

Was Nihilum/Ensidia ever banned for using "Clever game mechanics" on.....

C'thun (Know anything about a disgusting Oozling Kungen?)
Lady Vashj.....Respawns?
Twins...No video from first kill Kungen? Sat on a torch?
Hodir....Flower power?
Mimiron...JoL stacking?

I didn't think so.

Lets just say that Ensidia stacks the cards in their favor every chance they can get, who knows what other exploits they have used, and if they were to have discovered this bug I'm sure they would have used it just as they used flower trash on Hodir.

Much as I do not support the abuse of game mechanics I do think they have several very valid points in their admission of guilt post.  Namely the viability of certain encounters and Blizzard's known relationship and preferential treatment of certain top end raid guilds.  Might be interesting if this causes a shake out in the raid world.  I tried Yogg-Saron with only 1 watcher this week and it is insanely hard at the moment, so I can only imagine what is meant to happen with zero watchers up.

It was spellstealing a buff from the trash and then going into combat with Hodir.  Things like this are thought up when Blizzard introduce an Algalon unlock achievement which is theoretically impossible, so the only way around it was to think laterally and go outside the encounter designer's box.

Blizzard knew this when they released the encounter, but their sole purpose was to ensure that nobody killed Hodir hard mode, thus delaying the Algalon unlock, thus providing themselves with evidence to argue with at a later date to confirm that they had delivered "seriously challenging content" just as the raiders wanted because "nobody killed it for quite a while".  Challenging was wanted, impossible is taking the micky.

Out of interest I have done the 'nerfed' Hodir hard mode (now a 3 minute kill not the originally impossible 2 minute kill) and can confirm that the 2 minute kill is IMPOSSIBLE if you just play the encouter as it is.  We averaged 192k rdps for the kill (an average of 9.6k dps per person) and just got inside the 3 minute limit.

2 minutes was simply an impossibility, it would require an average dps of 267k rdps which would be a minimum of 13.4k dps per person in the raid.  gg Blizzard on providing a balanced encounter.....not.  On our Hard Mode kill only 2 of our 20 dps would have reached the minimum average dps requirement for a 2 minute kill, the rest would have failed.  It also gets harder to push the average up as the dps buff is only given to a limited number of people, so the top dps are usually the ones with the buff, but you can't give the buff to everyone!  Again, proving the impossibility of the fight. So it's no wonder that they looked to get a dps boost elsewhere imo as Blizz had issued an impossible challenge but were charging them Ã,£10 per month for the chance to try at failing in a game they could never win.

Well, tbh, I am not surprised with Blizz behaviuor at all. I play this game almost from start, and clearly see that Blizz does with WoW whatever gives more money, NOT more fun / challenge for players. Let me ask, why the hell we are forced to farm anything for example?... Everybody can give more and more annyoing examples from his everyday play :P So providing content impossible to fininsh is quite normal for me, as Blizz wants to give himself more time to provide new content, "farm" our money, and than magically fix it with finall patch. Welcome to Blizz way of play.

Cos if there was no farming element people would complete the content even faster. Blizz already have to deal with the problem that all (nearly, ok, I know we get a new 5 man this time. 1 whole 5 man. Big whoop) the new content they create in patches is for the top end raid guilds. Stuff that only about 10% (if that) of the WoW population is ever going to see (hence their changes to badges and loot drops and such come 3.2, and the number needed for a raid when BC and then Wrath came out. They're trying to make it more accerssible for a higher percentage of people). The problem is that those 10% also tend to be the most vocal one way or the other about the game, so if you start to focus on the 90% who want more 5 mans to play and more low level interesting content then all the people who have completed the high end stuff get bored of the game, moan of the forums, quit, and your game loses momentum. Blizz walks a very fine line, trying to please everyone (impossible), and if you look at how popular WoW is and compare the gameplay and amount of grind to every other MMO out there I think they've done a damn good job. No grind would mean they'd have to push out new content faster than physically possible, and they'd run out of ideas pretty soon and the game would die.
