Here is something interesting. Server not showing in list---Server USED to show in list---Difference?---New router(Ã,£90 D-Link)---Change back to 50year old router(30 bob Netgear)---Server reappears in list!  Configs are, on the face of it, the same. At least I've not been able to discern a difference. So, in the words of the prophet, W-T-*?

P.S. Could that have anything to do with Damian's woes last night? :g:

Deetz

Woe was me.

Connected ok initially, then computer crashed. When I tried to re-connect again.. connection timed out. But I could connect to other servers !!
dMrDeetz is currently :

All the British cars and all (very nearly) the British tracks. 15 minute races, no messing about, on to the next track, quick whizz round, another 15 minute battle 'til we all get bored. :norty:

Sounds like fun. I'll be there :boxing:  Which cars are British though?  There are obviously the Lotuses and the Austin but what others are there? :g:

Hmmmm...could be controversial, the 2.6 Capri was German, 3.1 was English, AC cobra? Austrailia was part of the empire back in the day so the Ford Falcon is british then?

I demand an enquiry :ranting2: or I'll settle for picking a car from what's in the list when I join which hopefully will include the 3.1 capri please thankew.

No Cobra (American) Can't have the 3.1 Capri without the 2.6 (nothing to be done about that) Oh, and no Ferraris (Italian, as is the Abarth and quite a few others)
The German connection could be levelled at the Escort as well could it not? :g:
EDIT: I have been reliable informed that the Escort is...BRITISH! :yahoo:
Mini

Elite
Elan
AH3000
E Types
3.8 Jag
TVR
Capri
Escort

Tracks: (This is a server list not a 'to be done' list. Whinges will be entertained via Ventrilo only)
Brands Indy
Cadwell
Castle Coombe 1997 (no chicanes)
Donnington National
Crystal Palace
Goodwood
Silverstone International (rF3)
Oulton Park (Fosters C)
and Snetterton

The Escort RS used a bodyshell from halewood, the cosworth 16V head on a kent block and were built at fords AVO site in Essex. I went through an Escort phase during my twenties, my mate had an earlier Lotus twink and it sounded the nuts blasting around the snake pass. I sold all my escort stuff just before the prices went crazy

I believe that the leather used on the Escort steering wheel was actually Italian so you shouldn't really be using it!  :lmfao:

I borrowed my mums 1300 Escort when I was a lad and drove from home to Buxton and back, 12 miles each way, in about 25mins.
Google maps quotes 20mins one way. When I got home my mum asked where I'd been and I made the mistake of telling her. She said you can't possibly have done that in 25mins,
as the car sat pinging and ticking on the drive. I thought oh 'carp' and had to massively back down saying no, no, actually I didn't get all the way there, honest mum!  :)

Hopefully see you tomorrow night. :)

I didn't even know there was a TVR in the HistorX mod  I'll have to check that out, I love TVR's. Even though I can't drive one to save my life but... they're awesome cars :D At least the more recent ones are.

Also, I say scratch the 3.1 Capri as it's without doubt the fastest car in the pack. I know what you're thinking, "you drove one the other night and you could hardly finish your races let alone win them!". You're right, but that's because I wasn't really focused on the driving and was actually deliberately kicking the back end out in every other corner. I love sliding that thing around :flirty: I just don't always manage to catch it in time :sideways:

While I'm here lurking, I have 2 questions for you in here:

1) What are you all doing in this section? It used to be LFS!!!

2) Where do I get to try this rfactor history XYZ stuff? I'm not even sure it would run on this overheating laptop...

You've found the rFactor SECTION of Dead Men Racing. There are also sections for iRacing, netKarPRO and Live for Speed. See?, All the bases covered.  :)
I'm not sure what the pc requirements are for rFactor but all the information is in this forum somewhere. :)

Hi Doorz,
Happy Birthday by the way, kind of late.
Thanks for the entertaining, quick and useless answers :D

From what I've read it would require so much tweaking that I'm not compelled to join the fun any more... installing this stuff would probably take 1 month racing time equivalent! And 1 more month to make it work...

Haha! I'd be lying if I told you differently. There IS work to be done but it's worth it in the end. Look upon it as a 'project' :D

What are you still doing in the LFS section? :flirty: LFS is old, move on! :D

On a bit more serious note, yes, it takes some tweaking to get the HistorX mod running to your liking, although it pretty much worked well right out of the box for me. I'm not sure about it running on your laptop, though :g: You definitely wouldn't be able to enjoy it in all its glory, and I'm afraid night racing - oh, such a blast!! - would be too much to bear for your laptop.

Then again, the HistorX mod isn't for everyone. It may not be your thing. I gotta say, though, that after spending time with the HistorX mod and netKar Pro LFS really does feel stale. It really isn't that great as most of the community on the LFS forum would have you believe. Not by a long shot. The days when LFS was a pioneer racing sim are long past and other sims are quickly catching up or have even left LFS way behind in some areas. The only thing LFS really does excell at is usability; the easy to use GUI, the automated skindownloading, the ease with which you join an online race,... It's all just very easy to do and it's what makes LFS so accessable. Just my opinion :)

Mille Sabords

I tend to agree with you.
I tried the NKpro demo some time ago, and could not race the FBM in LFS after that (dull boring bland...)
Then I tried to race Nkp online... and removed it from the hard disk.

LFS is excellent when I have time for online racing between 21:30 and 22:30 only, maybe twice a week.
I do not see much more racing time ahead for the next few months, so I'm afraid that getting into rF would further reduce that time. I do not want to spend these hours tweaking, I want to race!

Maybe when rF2 is out, who knows?
