Server Upgrade Woes

Hi there peeps,

Seems our server upgrade to 1.6 CS has gone real wrong!

If anyone wishes to pass their complements to valve on a job well f&*cked with steam then please feel free.

As soon as I can get the steam updater to work I'll stand a chance of getting the server back up and running.

Sorry for the outage.

It may br worth checking on this link as mentioned by Smilodon. It looks as if the server install will get the necessary HL/CS files embedded as per the new client.

Stryker and Oldbloke, thanks for the combined efforts on this - it has been a mother of an upgrade and we appreciate the time you are are both putting in to making it work. I just wish we cold say the same for valve :angry:

I think it should of worked. Problem is I cant work out what steam did to it during the initial upgrade

Its coming close to my just having to get an old-skool install of halflife then a tar.gz of CS 1.4

Have you done the obvious of ensuring the mh and balders are running under separate steam accounts?

For my server I just used the small client and let it pull everything down that it needed. However, I am running W2K and not *nix so that is probably completely irrelevant.

I know that some of the old issues are still present in the dedicated server (such as requiring fonts.wad and language.cfg to be placed in the cstrike folder as they are not installed by default and the server crashes eventually if they are not there). Additionally, I know that cs_747 will regularly crash my server so I have removed that from the mapcycle.

We now have both meathook and baldric back as 1.6 CS servers.

Everyone at the LAN has my permission to give Stryker one. Let's face it, we messed up his weekend so the least we can do is make sure that we fubar his LAN weekend

WE messed up his weekend? No, Valve messed up his weekend and my weekend and your weekend and your weekend and is carrying on into the week so that it can mess up next weekend as well.
