Perhaps the question is: how hard/expensive is it to become a 'trusted partner'? Maybe we can host our own ranked server?

I know it's a long shot but it's worth finding out.

Also depends how many are interested, if theres enough and it was only Ã,£2 a month each, I'd be up for that.

Which poses a really interesting question, for which I apologise...

What if..
you like it, you pay for it at Ã,£2 (for arguments sake) and then after 6 months your circumstances change or you decide yoiu don't like it any more. Do we pull the server?

/devils advocate.

On the game side, I've watched the videos, is it as run and gun as it appears?

Master of maybe

I suppose it depends on the length of lease, if it is a monthly thing then should be fine, we pull it when interest wains. If quarterly then people would be expected to pay up front I guess.

I think we'd have to know the cost of dedicated servers and if out current host will be one of the trusted partners before making a decision one way or another.

I haven't played the beta yet. Though I will be buying the game. I think there will be enough of us with the game to make a community and the gameplay seems like it would fit our style. If both of these are the case I believe it is a matter of seeing if we think the cost is worthwhile rather than any other concerns.

It's a case of wait and see. I'll be joining in with the beta nearer release date. At the moment I have Mass Effect 2 to play and AvP later in the month.

as i earlier stated, currently most run around and shoot, but then again, we only got the Rush gameplay mode available in the beta, where you somewhat need to rush the enemy, but more tactics styles will also be available in hte release.
But that said, RUSH mode can without much issues be adjusted to our wishes.. camping the oppositions team is kinda hard as you cant move near it :P

Currently awaiting a call from EA denmark, about the EA trusted partner issue, should have more news tonight

So to get this game to run in the community we have to rent a server?

That's rather awkward as i thought we would be able to create our own like with BF2.

We have a dedicated server so why can't we just run a ranked one from ours or am i missing the point here?

We need a firm confirmation that unranked free servers will not be supported at all before we take the plunge with paid servers, not that i don't mind paying its up to you lot. Do you want to pay or would you prefer a free no thrills server?

Also is there a server client about or is that restricted to trusted partners?

Also how will lans work then will we need to use a dedicated server to use that? Or will a lan be an unranked server?

I wouldn't overly worry about the LAN and its impact. If it's more practical to not have it at the LAN it's no biggie. Better to concentrate on the 99% usage which would be in our normal game play.

Nice work chaps :)

Thanks for your response Pen.

I can't find a LAN option in the beta, hopefully the gold version will :(

If you had read T-bags post carefully, you would have noticed

QuoteWill there be an option to have my own dedicated server? Yes, DICE will have trusted partners with datacenters worldwide that you'll be able to rent a dedicated server from ensuring you always have a quality server in your region.

About the unranked, no EA wont be releasing any server software publicly as previous stated, if you want a unranked server, rent one and set it as unranked.

i have been giving this a good play and to be honest its needs tons of work, i know its a beta but this game i would say is a long way off, graphics are to be honest quite poor, even with settings on max, sound is awful to much background noise,  shooting is a bit of pot luck, mmmm i hope it improves enough to make it a good game, feels and plays like a console game, but it is a Beta.:g:

Had a couple of games and it has great potential but I agree with some of the comments from spudgun, and *** is NO PRONE all about, hope this is just a beta thing cos snipings bloody hard when kneeling.
