I think idle dMw. Members sitting on the server to populate is fine but what bugs me is members of public being Idle(afk/not playing) when the server is full.

I was playing last night and counted 3 idle players on one team (all public players) and 1 other public player idle on the other team. (They had been idle the whole game) This was on Rush.

I dont mind this when the server is starting to get going and trying to get populated but when the server is full and you have idle players its rather annoying, Espically on Rush. Is it possbile to put an idle limiter on the server so if your idle for more than 10/15 mins you get kicked.

Thoughts?

Admins usually kick idles iirc, but yes an idle timer would be ideal as a backup for when no admin is about.

We seemed to have a bit of an issue with idle players last night.  During one game (i think about an hour before you came on) we kicked a total of eight players in one go, 5 on one side and 3 on the other.

Agree. AFK for phone, beer or loo trip is fine, but the whole round? No. Kick after 10mins.

From a personal perspective, as someone who does play on dMw's server most evenings, we don't see a lot of the listed admins.
Ninja
Lionhart
Blunt
DannagE
RizZy
KKND
Naldo

Ninja plays Fridays and the other guys drop in now and then, except KKND who hasn't played since January. Most admin is done by TwoBad and Fazer , neither of whom is on the list.

I'm not complaining, as the server is well admin'd most of the time and despite the habitual complainers on the server (RSS-Delta & Mr7Beans of late) most publics are happy and well behaved. You might want to revise the list though...

KKND

Also if no admin is in game, you can give a shout on Steam, most nights lots off people are online!

Reason why i'm not online anymore is that i have a new job, with day, evening ,and night shift's.
If NF wanna replace me i'm fine with that np.

Don't forget on TeamSpeak and such also.
As KKND means, many admins can be reached through various ways if someone needs kicking or such.
Also when some of the youngsters are playing, some of their dads are the admins so can be contacted straight away.

Must say that on some servers the idle kick works really well.

It's not my fault my message took more than five minutes to compile whilst in the office! :roflmao:

Now Penfold is just trying to make me look bad!

I think the main thing is that our server IS admin'd and done so well. It's the reason I joined dMw.

Naldo

DD, Unless I missed you I don't see you in the dMw community group on Steam???

Note to all, a quick message through steam to an admin and he can sort it whilst at desktop, they don't have to be in game to sort issues out.

TheDvEight

I'm not saying it wasnt admined well infact the main reason what attracted me to dMw. was the rules and naldo being a good admin at the time i played, I dont have steam set up (i have an account but personally done like steam) but if its that useful i will start to use it.

But i still think the idle auto kick is a good idea

Hi Folks,

We took the idle timer off some time ago as it was agreed that it makes server seeding easier. As the guys have said, there's normally one admin around in steam if not in game. Kicks are easy.

I will look to re-implement the timer when the new rotation goes live next week.
