Not sure if this works as not put an attachment up but a very useful table I found in the forums for any new starting player.

Update by Lib, removed the PDF and providing link to new table.

Copied from the mining thread to this one seeing as it appears to be developing into a Wiki thread!

Reference table for mining planetoids.  DYOR my numbers could be wrong.

This is the time it takes (to the nearest minute) to just recoup the cost of calling in a new mining ship depending on the number of people in the group.   Remember this is not profit time, it's the time it takes just to recover your costs, shared profit only starts trickling in after this period has elapsed.
Breakeven Time (mins)|Solo|   2|3|4|5|6|7|8|9|10
Water|1|2|3|3|4|5|6|7|8|8
Tylium|2|3|5|7|8|10|12|13|15|17
Titanium|3|7|10|13|17   |20|23|27|30|33

This is the minimum mine size to recover the cost of calling in a mining ship depending on the number of people in the group.  Again, this is not profit, just cost recovery, any excess in the mine over this level will result in shared profit - if you stick around that long and successfully defend it for the duration.
Cubits|Mine Cost|Solo|2|3|4|5|6|7|8|9|10
Water|100|500|1000|1500|2000|2500|3000|3500|4000|4500|5000
Tylium|100|1000|2000|3000|4000|5000|6000|7000|8000|9000|10000
Titanium|100|2000|4000|6000|8000|10000|12000|14000|16000|18000|20000

Hope this helps.

I noticed a number of folks trying to take down a medium or indeed a light platform from distance and getting killed off quickly by missiles.

Get yourself closer than 200 distance away and missiles stop. Get about 30 closer and the cannons sometimes stop firing. I can get into position losing around 400HP on the way in and come away with over 1000 of my 2000HP. Here's how to do it:

I've yet to test this on a Heavy Platform but once done, I'll update this post.

Oh yes, in the OP run today Vulf from Arabella took out the the Basestar and in reply, the Colonials took out the Pegasus and they came to a head in Hatir.

Unfortunately I lost the screenie of the Basestar but here's Pegasus in battle.

A fine battle until the sector crashed, which I believe was a Cylon virus, sending everyone a socket error. Then when we all came back the lag was terrible. Good whilst it lasted.

Edit: And the Basestar:
